Hi all, my resto' is coming along quite well, but the dreaded rusty sunroof woes have hit upon me and I am now is search of a sunroof skin. I'm going to call BMW tomorrow to see how much it is, unless anyone has one they in good condition that they are willing to part with. ollathnesch have one for almost EU700 (GULPINGTONS)

The sunroof on mine is quite rusty on the underside, and so that small bubble on the sunroof outer skin was only the tip of an iceberg!

If you have removed your headliner, you may want to also check the corners where the drain tubes exit the bottom pan of the sunroof. Mine were completely rusted out and small leaks started to show up on my headliner. Not until did I remove my headliner, did I see how bad it really was! I wound up ordering the entire bottom receiver pan from BMW. Not an easy job either!

Would help if you put car year in your profile. The sunroof is different from 9/86 up.

Well Sytner BMW have had to email germany to see if another batch will ever be made (the parts advisor was under the impression that the skin has been discontinued) [-o<

I feel your pain. Mine had some bubbling and when I saw how it looked underneath, I set out to find a replacement pane. Luckily, I was able to source one in good condition, with the right color paint.

Thanks guys.

The skin is no longer available through BMW, but luckily I have found what is probably the only 2nd hand one in good condition for sale anywhere in the world, from SOCAL. Even with postage to the UK, it just comes in under the price I was quoted by BMW had one been available new. VAT will probably send it over, but lets see how UPS deal with that end of it!

I will try and sell my old one, as I am sure someone else will have one on their car that is worse!

I have one as well and was working with "Arif" a week or so ago to ship to the UK, but the shipping was stoopid crazy $$$. Please let me know if you know of a reasonable shipping method!

Shipping to the UK cost me $140, I think it's due to the weight of the packed item. UPS were willing to do it cheaper - but I did't want the hassle of try to arrange it from 4500 miles away and making sure someone was home when they called to collect!
