Window Drop Down on door opening

This might be a totally dumb question, but given that the door glass rides up under a lip on the door seal, are the e24's supposed to have the drop down feature you get on, say, an e86 coupe? I know a lot BMW's have this, but those tend to be the newer variants.

Not on the E24.

Thanks Ron, one less thing to worry about I suppose

Any insight into how difficult it would be to add this feature to an E24?

I suspect use the heated door lock switch to engage a pcb circuit or short time relay (circa 0.25 secs) to drop the window a fraction and then use a contact on the the interior light relay going off to engage a similar pcb/short term hold relay to push the window back up for just over that length of time, say about 0.5 secs.

Does this feature typically have any protection against pinching a persons fingers?

The system on the E36 coupe and cabrio (and presumably the sedan, but they don't have the window drop/raise feature) have a pinch protection circuit, but I don't know how it works. I assume it's tied to the amperage draw on the window motor.
