I thought i bought a clean car :(

Post by smashervt »

Hey everyone. So what i thought was a clean car turns out has a secret. Not sure how I missed this hole but I missed it. Other This is on the passenger side footwell near the rocker. The rockers were actually cut out and replaced and lots of rust was cut out of the vehicle. That was 10 years ago and then the car was stored. So yea can't go back now so what would be my best bet to fix this? This is actually where the square jack point is. The drivers side is okay but not something i would want to use to jack up with. https://imgur.com/a/ouYWn

Better photo would help a lot but read this .

My advice is to cut the pad off and carefully plate up the hole . Linish the welds , seam seal and then prime with zinc rich primer X2 . Two coats of Schutz underseal and it will better than new.

Thanks! I took a look by pulling back the carpet and it looked like a bowl full of Dorito chips! Strange how the previous owner spent soo much time restoring the entire vehicle and removing tons of rust and forgot this spot( Im assuming that i have the same issue on the other side). It does look relatively straight forward with cutting out a square out of the rust. Ill put a new sheet of metal and coat it with por 15 and undercoating just in case.
