Windshield washer nozzle location?

Post by shabazz1987 »

Hello,

Did lots of searching but can’t seem to figure his out.

Anyone have an idea why my washer nozzles don’t match up with the holes on the hood?

Instead, they protrude from the heater box cover, and squirt through the slatted grille in the hood (in the first picture, you can see the squirter on the inner most grille slat).

Is it possible I have an incorrect hood, maybe a previous owner changed it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Hassan

Some of the early models I've seen had a setup like that. Team Serco here in Australia own a 1976 633 which has spray jets through the vents rather than mounted on top. I'm not sure what year the change was made though. My old car was a '77 633 and it had the regular black nozzles on top of the bonnet.

Interesting though that your photos appear to show holes in the bonnet lid as though there should be nozzles connected there anyway. Is yours an early car? I suspect it is as the pictures show it has the interior plastic grill piece mounted flush on the top of the dashboard.

Let me add - if it is a car of that age, the engine bay looks pretty good, very clean for a car that early.

That setup certainly simplifies the plumbing. Lots less tubing and snaking.

parts #7 & #8 here

http://2009.bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/ ... _cleaning/

show as applicable to 630CS, 630CSi, 633CSi models, up to 4/77 for the 633CSi model.

I expect that these nozzles will freeze up very easily in cold weather; later nozzles are electrically heated to prevent this.

cheers

Hassan, since it appears that nobody answered your actual question, yes, your bonnet (hood) has been exchanged with a later model :-k

I had a very early '77 years ago and it too had the same type of squirters that you have \:D/

You might just want to pick up a pair of the later hood mounted squirters, install them just to plug up the holes, and call it a day :-"
