Front plate delete

Post by 88m6 »

Was toying with options for front delete after unsuccessful search for standard BMW fill. Hard to find anymore. Was prepared for paying a premium for that hard to find filler it's not that important to knowingly get ripped for few I did come cross.
Thus search for options.
Came up with this.
I went to lowes n looking around for something I could cut to fit that was flexible. Found vinyl black stair tread. Top side has ribs for gripping but backs are smooth. So purchased one cut it out and looked pretty good but wasn't happy with just a blank .
Cut out a another strip from stairtread to sort of match width of OE impact strip groove to continue that line across and am happy with it rather than looking at the holes for license plate.
Bought a roll of double side tape used for adhering vinyl flooring to adhere.

I think it looks pretty good. However, if you want the "BMW" bumper filler you could try the source I used a few years ago.

I saw 'front bumper filler strips' advertised in the November 2014 Roundel (p. 122) and ordered one at a cost of $33. I had to trim it slightly but otherwise it fit well. Contact info is as follows:

You guys are lucky! I was parked outside of 'Barney's Beanery', using my handicapped placard for a couple hours. When I got back to Buster, I had a ticket for no front plate! I guess the cop didn't get any the night before & took it out on me! :-({|=
Okay, it was West Hollywood but, SO WHAT? I don't roll down that street!

Does anyone know if the "filler plate" from the factory was blank or embossed with BMW?

I've never seen an embossed one for an E24. E30 and E36, yes, but not the E24. That doesn't mean they don't exist.

There is a shop online where you can buy this filler. I bought two. The one with bmw logo is out of stock and not sure if he plans on making more so I ordered the one without the logo. It looks great and fits perfect. Not cheap but it looks oem.
