Hi everyone,
I'm new here, just got a '85 635 and I'm trying to find the VIN number stamped somewhere on the body. I've got all the plates and stickers, including the dash plate, but nothing stamped on the body which I need to get my paperwork sorted.
I put some arrows of possible location in engine bay, I have the 8-digit body number on arrow #3, but it's not good enough I need the 17 digit VIN
I used to have '80 628csi euro which had the VIN stamped behind cables arrow #2 but on this car there is nothing there. Also location #1 I think where it should be, but there is just notthing there...
Any ideas?

Isn't there a VIN plate on the left side of the dash? I'm in the US and don't know if they do different things elsewhere.

Re: VIN number location on an 85 635CSI
It should be at location #1 as you merntioned.
The only thing I can think of is that you have a replacement body. This should have been stamped up by the dealer doing the work, but I have come across this before. May I suggest that you either try to get your local Main Agent to stamp it for you, or otherwise get a set of stamps and do it yourself. If you do it yourself, you won't have the BMW roundels though
