brake pipe retaining screws

Post by wattsmonkey »

I'm hoping this will be one of those questions that leaves me feeling stupid for asking, but reassured nonetheless!

I've removed all of the little Phillips head screws that hold the brake and fuel pipes retainers in place, but as you might imagine, they are not in a state that I'd like to re-use.

They are a ridiculous price from BMW/Walloth Nesch. Is there anything special about them? Aren't they just a metric fine thread machine screw??

Many thanks for any input/advice on what to buy aftermarket.

Cheers,

Rob

OMG, crack me up

Really Bert, to what question were you answering "yes" to :-k

Rob, I would recommend just measuring them, matching up the head style and finish, and off to your local hardware store you go \:D/

FWIW, I've pretty much given up trying to exactly match each piece of replacement hardware ](*,)

IIRC they are just plain pan head metric screws with a Phillips drive. I had all of my hardware replated in yellow cadmium and had bought new screws and just tossed them in with the lot when they went to the platers. I bought the new ones at my local hardware store. So the answer yes was to every day generic metric screws. If you want them in original yellow cad, buy them from the dealer. And Bobbo these are dead nuts matchable! Any missing original bolts are matchable if bought from the dealer. Every bolt in my car has original manufacturer stampings on the head. This was obtained by what was in the car, trips to the scrapper and dealer visits.
