euro 628csi front air dam question

Post by sixseries »

I found a potentially nice 628csi euro, but have a question about the front air dam. I've posted a picture of what it looks like. Is this standard? It's not what you usually find on e24's, but I was wondering that maybe it was standard for 628's.

I at first thought it was some cheap knockoff, but then found this article (https://bringatrailer.com/2018/08/10/wh ... -6-series/) at BaT, that seemed to have a couple cars with the same style of air dam.

It kind of was. If it is metal and you decide to go for a full air dam I would be interested in it for a project I have in mind

I agree. I guess what I wanted to make sure that it was stock, not a cheap aftermarket item. How hard is it to switch to a full size air dam? I believe this 628 is a ‘86 so it’s an e28 based car

That looks like the real 628 Euro deal to me. The plastic apron spoiler will most likely fit right over the front of it, with the correct rubbing strip, but it would save some work if you could buy the whole bumper complete.

Mine came with an M635 apron attached, but with the 628 end pieces, leaving a gap.

I don't think it will without cutting it. Could be wrong but the only one that I have seen like that the original like you have was cut. Possibly because it was an NA spoiler rather than a Euro??

Here’s what I mean: euro 628 corner used to illustrate, euro 635 apron fitting over top, but end caps will need fettling. 628 ends are tiny and rubbing strips are different, but will fit.

Hope of interest, if not of help,

Cheers,

Rob
