Faded Bumpers & Dynamat

Post by Bostn635csi »

Hello, looking for a product I can use on front and rear bumpers that have been faded due to years of weather and sun. I use the typical stuff sold in auto stores but I have to use them every time I wash the car. Anyone have a permanent solution. Is there an aerosol I can use. Prep the bumper and then spray it?

Question 2 - Removing the door cards and rear seats. Any recommendations on what product to use for noise reduction. Anyone use Dynamat?

Thanks in advance.

Kevin, gonna move your post over to the "Exterior" forum, hopefully you'll get some responses there [-o<

We had a guy out our way in CA that used something that worked well, sadly he passed away but I think I can find the info for you :-k

Dynamat is supposed to work great, but no experience with that either

I have Dynamat in my 85 E30. Floorboards beneath the carpet, firewall, trunk divider and lining the inside of both both doors. The difference in road noise is remarkable. It's not cheap (I used the real Dynamat), but I'd say it's worth it.

Thanks Ken, that seems to be the consensus out there. You get what you pay for. Will let you know how it turns out...

I have had good results using Solution Finish for the external trim and rubber.
It actually is absorbed by the material and bonds with it rather than just coating it like most products
Also I have heard good reports on Gtechniq C4 but have not used it

I bought two products made by SEM at my local autobody supply house:
SEM Trim Black Ultra item #49133 Matte finish $14.77
SEM Sand Free wet-on-wet adhesion promoter which melts color into ABS, PVC and similar plastics. Item #38363. $15.77

They come in rattle cans

I haven't tried it yet. You may want to look at the SEM website for further guidance. I'm just not sure what kind of plastic is used on the bumper inserts.
