Why do I think this is a worthy trade? Because my car has everything done to it that most people want.
- H&R Springs
- Bilstein Shocks
- Leather Sports Seats
- M-Tech I steering wheel
- 5-speed manual gearbox
- Racing dynamics strut brace
- Alpine, JL Audio, Phoenix Gold system
This car looks great. Sits low, little body roll compared to 635's with stock suspension. Here's some of the good bits:
- Engine has around 130,000 miles. Chassis has 270,000 miles. Engine was rebuilt 15,000 miles ago by previous owner.
- Engine has new (10,000 miles ago) valve cover gasket, water pump, water pump gasket, 19lb 5.0L Mustang V8 injectors, catalytic converter, spark plugs (100 miles ago), fuel pressure regulator, E28 M5 starter motor (smaller)
- Car exterior is in excellent condition. Black trim is unoxidized, with no rust underneath, and a small square of rust in the rear body.
- New air dam 200 miles ago.
- 270,000 miles differential replaced 50-100 miles ago. Still open diff.
- Have a binder with all of the documentation
The bad:
- Power steering leak & groan on cold starts
- Clutch loses pressure occasionally. It is going into a BMW specialist shop on Monday the 27th of June to get this remedied.
- Occasional idle problem. A tap of the gas pedal fixes this.
- Car was repainted and needs a bit of a wet sanding and polish above the pinstripe
- Drivers seat has a medium-sized tear on the leather bolster.
- Odometer not working (plastic gear needs replacing)
- on-board computer light bar is burned out and needs to be replaced ($30 light bar)
- windshield has minor nick in it
The minor amount of rust I mentioned
A lot of you will think I'm going backwards in terms of 6-series ownership, but I realized recently that I prefer the softer, cruisier 6-series. I was planning on keeping this six for a good long while, but after a year with it, I came to the above realization.
I'm looking to trade for a 1988-1989 635CSi (that is, world bumpers, ellipsoid headlights, 4-speed automatic, stock suspension, comfort seats).
Colors I'd like to avoid are bronzit, lachssilber, alpine white, and agate green (or any green, for that matter). Color I'd gravitate towards are any dark blues, black, red, or dark greys.
I'm located in Redwood City, CA. I'm willing to drive a maximum of three hours or 150-200 miles to see the possible trade. A halfway meet would probably work out best though.
Trading my manual 1985 635CSi for an auto 1988+ 635CSi
