I've found that if you saturate the areas that are weak or cracked with super glue this really helps to stiffen those areas up.

Mine is in horrendous shape, I was thinking of layering it with fiberglass, anyone tried that?

In particular, the areas where the hinges are riveted have been torn. Not surprising. Big metallic part, very thin board. Anyone found a good way to avoid that in the future?

Sorry for the late reply Francois. I used only one layer of cloth. Didn't want to add anymore thickness than I had to. I did use two layers in spots where it was needed. I used woven cloth, not mat.
