WTB Getrag 260 transmission

I'm replacing my transmission due to a currently undiagnosed problem. I don't have time right now to crack the case open and I hate putting miles on the ///M when the daily is down.

It's for an 84 633CSi original transmission was a 260/5, however a 260/6 should also work. I have the sheet metal shifter which I assume will work with all 260/6 trans. Correct me if I'm wrong

With a 260/6 you will need the aluminum shifter assembly.

I have a 260/5 with the sheet metal shifter assembly. I just took it off and bolted it onto the 260/6 I am going to swap into my e24. It seems to fit and shift through the gears, is there a reason only the aluminum assembly is needed for the 260/6? Both trans have the exact same mounting points etc for the sheetmetal plate. I've heard some 260/6s don't have the holes tapped for the mounting bolts but mine does. Thx

Yes, I have heard this too but it seems to fit fine and work as far as you can tell with it out of the car. Mmmm, more research needed. Thx

I ended up buying a transmission from a wrecking yard in Oregon. Probably far from the best deal but it got delivered on Monday so at least I have one now.

I have one of those in my 630 ... first 5 speed swap, now I'll do it right with a 265, which I have!
