Trunk hinges
I'm looking for a set of nice smooth working trunk hinges, not rusty or worn or beat. its for an early e24 but I think they are the same as later cars. Mine are buggered up and the trunk gets stuck open sometimes. They appear just really worn to the point of being inop. Shipped to 98281.

Re: Trunk hinges
Thx Bert, I did see that. I'm more than willing to go with new. I just thought I'd see if there was some cheap used ones. I just parted a 635 a while back and since the boot lid was rusty I left it on the shell when it went away. Hinges were perfect. At this point this cars not really worth new hinges and it needs everything else as well.
Re: Trunk hinges
I was going to offer a good set that is still on a parts car I have but shipping would likely kill the deal versus new. However I will say this for Real OEM indicated prices, in my experience, once I get to the dealer, the old stuff is often three times what the Real OEM price is. If you get stuck, PM me and I will photograph them for you and then can remove and send. I would ask $40 for the pair for the effort to remove, pack and take to the post office.

Re: Trunk hinges
Wiseguy, Thx for the offer. I think you are correct about shipping making it unfeasible. Pelican has these for $36, so $72 with free shipping. And you would be at least $50. Doesn't really make sense to go with used. That car has also been moved to storage while my new garage is being built. So its all become low priority for me. ( If they ever start construction! ) I'll keep you in mind, thx for taking the time to reply.

Re: Trunk hinges
There is list price on parts and then there is dealer list. I made friends with my local parts guy and he gives me 10% off true list making prices close to realoem

And then there is also outdated pricing. For example I recently bought some parts for me E46 touring which were three times the realoem estimate. In fact there were a bunch of parts that I did not proceed with new because they were outlandishly priced...bpoliakoff wrote:There is list price on parts and then there is dealer list. This is true, living in Canada we also have to contend with the whole currency exchange rate BS. I find some parts actually work out cheaper through the dealer and some are way more. I have done the same, Local BMW dealers parts guy is now my buddy and interested in the old project car I have. He says there is only a couple guys like me ( with the rusty shitbox) but lots of older cars owners coming in.

Also true but I am gong by Pelicans listed price which I think is probably a little more accurate than Realoems ( I hope)
