3.46 LSD or Diff

Post by Microang »

As above I am looking for a 3.46:1 LSD or open diff as my car just destroyed it's diff today and need it asap.

Cheers.

Is there a reason you want this ratio? I know from GazM3's posts that it must exist, but I don't know which cars used it.

I'd be surprised if your car didn't have 3.07:1. The highlines had 3.63:1 and the M cars 3.73.

If you fancy another trip to Cheltenham, I've got a couple of spare open diffs. I've also got the internals from an M diff if you've got the rebuilding skills!

Cheers,

Rob

3.46 is a medium case. Not sure whether it came from an e28 e30 or early m20 e34.

My car originally came with a 3.46:1 diff, seeing as it's originally a 628 CSI. If you look on real oem that's the standard ratio and I'd like to keep it that way if possible.

Also do you know what case size those diffs are Rob?

I don't think I'd clocked that your car used to be a 628.

All my spare diffs are large case, but this doesn't make any difference to fitting them to your car - rear beam is the same, driveshafts are the same.

I have an LSD from an E28 528e but can't recall its ratio so will check and advise. Shipping would be an issue due to weight though.

I’ve got two 3.07s, plus the internals and new bearings/seals for the 3.73lsd

They were often in a 528e with an auto tranny.
