Tie Rod Lever Arms (SORTED)

Post by Microang »

Hi,

I'm looking for these (circled red in the picture), the tie rod lever arms (plates) that the front struts and suspension arms mount to as my right hand upper arm refuses to let it's ball joint go and even my mechanic couldn't get it off but all the others come off just fine.

If anyone has these I am happy to pick them up or have them posted. I finally found them on realoem, they are part numbers 32211125739 and 32211125738.

Please let me know what you have. They are for an 86 E24.

I'm based in London, UK.

EDIT: Thanks guys, I managed to source some and it's now sorted.

They are bolted to the bottom of all e28 based e24/e28s front strut tubes.

Makes Strut replacement a lot easier.

Ah, I see now. Never seen them removed from the strut but kept on the tie rod arms like that. Should be on all e28's and late e24's...

Would a little heat from a MAPP torch help loosen it? Or a long soak the the preferred combo of acetone/tranny fluid?

These are actually not for an E24, at least they look nothing like mine or other's I've seen. They do not have 3 holes, only two for arms and also the strut screws look wrong as they're meant to be squared like the OP picture.

What did your mechanic try to separate it with? I couldn't get mine to "pop" either but my machinist did in a press with over 4000 lbs of pressure on it. And "pop" it did with an ungodly sound. Strange thing is the Realoem diagram looks nothing like the real thing on my 81and the later, post 83 cars do not use the same part. Curious indeed
