WTB Drivers door lock cylinder

Post by euroshark »

I just realized the door lock cylinder I bought over a year ago to repiar my DRIVERS door lock is actually for the passengers side...

I need a good drivers door lock assy with key. I will recode the lock for my key. IF you have the outer barrel for the DRIVERS door lock, that is essentially the part I need. Mine has three broken tabs on the outer cylinder barrel.

My car is an '84 Euro 635 LHD. I believe anything from 5/82-1989 will work.

Thanks, Geo

Post a pic of the part you have and I will see if I have the right one.

Also the dealer sells a rebuild kit for pretty cheap.

Here is what I have. The drivers lock has a longer outer barrel than the passengers. It also has 3 tabs on the end as opposed to the passengers.

I just went through this last year.

I will look at the part number on the bag and post it this evening. It seems like the price went way up which would suck.

I bought a rebuild set part# 51219556329 based on RealOEM.com. This set is identical to the PASSENGERS lock cylinder. I'm windering if it is an updated version and in fact may work. Not sure.

Do you have central locking? that one is missing the part that hits the micro switch.

Yep. Central locking and heated lock.

The drivers lock is longer, has a 3 piece outer barrel and 11 code slots as opposed to the passenger side which is shorter, has a 1 piece outer barrel and only 8 coe slots.

I've researched what I believe to be drivers side options. They are either NLA or piricey.

Hello. I ordered 1 from Schmiedmann's a couple of years ago.

Part number: 51-21-1-886-521 Catch with key left.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I did an extensive search both here and in Europe. It's NLA.

upon some checking I bought the same kit.
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw ... 219556329/

It went way up in price. I think I paid 32 dollars dealer cost last year. this is insane.

It fit fine and worked with my key. it was missing the part that hits the micro switch. I knew this going into it but the micro switch one was 250 when I bought.

I ended up 3d modeling and printing a replacement part.
