WTB - under hood light assembly and/or just the lens
Gents, I need a replacement under hood light assembly, actually just the lens, cover, whatever it's called
One of mine is cracked at the screw mounting points, and that simply won't do
May still be available new, but lemme know what you've got

Thanks Bert, I'll run with that P/N
Frankly, at this point I'd rather have new anyway
But if you've got something to offer, please don't hesitate

They went way up in price which sucks. $50 dollars now.
Unfortunately a lot of the dealer e24 parts have gone way up in price.

Re: WTB - under hood light assembly and/or just the lens
I have been meaning to make some custom ones with some license plate lights and a switch so I can leave the hood open without the light on.

Uh, the under hood light(s) only come on when the lights are on, just the running lights or full on headlights, at least on my '80
Verification please
Curious about what custom ideas you have, however

Re: WTB - under hood light assembly and/or just the lens
Bobbo, you're correct, my 11/88 build operates the same. The logic, if you need the hood light on, it's mostly likely dark out and the car lights are on for safety.

Re: WTB - under hood light assembly and/or just the lens
It certainly is not perfect. but they work well and the whole project cost me 5 dollars.
Hell of a lot better than the 100 it would cost to put in two lights in the hood.
Now the most important question. Will they hold up to the heat. Engine hits 85˚c and can heat up to 95+ after driving and parking the car. This is well past the glass transition temp of PETG, but those temps are measured from inside the engine. Not sure how the engine bay itself will preform.
