Did the factory really make a "Motorsport" version with an auto trans? What other distinguishing features would such a car have?

They made plenty of "Motorsport" (standard 635) versions with an Auto box in 3 colours only. Misano Red, Macau Blue & Nogaro Silver. Red and Silver had Black Nappa leather. The Blue had White Nappa.
All were "Shadowlined" ie all chrome replaced with Satin Black items.
Rumoured to have updated engines but not substantiated.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

Strange, tested in May 2016 for the first time since January 2012 with very little additional mileage. So it must have been off the road for three or four years.

And it sounds as if it could be rustier than "average". States that £20k was spent on doing it up -("Professionally modified to a very high standard by Jags Bodyshop")- but obviously they didn't do a very professional job if there's so much corrosion as per the MOT report. In my book, if you're doing work on a car, you ensure that the "out of sight" areas are properly treated and sealed before you start on the rest of the bodywork :-k

I have never heard the rumour about more power on the 635CSi Motorsport cars - I thought the rumour belonged to the M635CSi Motorsport cars, which again is completely un-substantiated, un-documented, untested and un-proven on a dyno or by discovery of any significantly different drivetrain parts from the rest of the M635CSi's.

I think its more likely that BMW main dealers' salesmen used/initiated this rumour to help sell the cars. Remember, the Motorsport models were only created to help shift the end of the production run which were becoming difficult to sell due to the competition from newer models. Also the fact that these cars were rather dated, having changed very little since the S2/E28 platform was launched in early 1982.

Back on again at a tad under £14k. Although the description hasn't changed very much since it was first listed more than seven years ago, the asking price certainly has and somewhere along the way, the current owner reckons it puts out 300bhp! I doubt it :-k

For those of us who do not partake of farcebook, please could you let us know what was said - purely in the interests of completion of the thread and the 'Beast's history of course :D

Well, the car has a few issues

Had faults with seats and some running issues. As soon a people realised what car it was, the threads escalated and they were quickly deleted

Was quite funny 😂
