Nice 88 Find on Craigs List

Post by Bryan Moran »

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4555177934.html

I have a 1988 BMW 635CSi.

1. 121,000 Miles
2. Has new suspension installed.
3. Sport Seats
4. Spoiler.
5. Runs and drives well.
6. BBS Style 05's with newer Eagle F1 tires (worth $1500 alone)
7. Sport steering wheel.
8. Many extra parts.
9. Rare front strut brace
10. Freshly professionally rebuilt front spoiler

I'm asking $4500 OBO. Car needs a paint job as the clear coat is peeling.

Part out this car? What a waste of a more rare e24 since its a late model. It actually pisses me off when someone would rather part the car than restore it.....guess not everyone has the know how or money to do things the right way. People have a habit of ruining older bmw's....especially those know it all DIY'ers....hopefully this car doesn't get f*cked up.

Tell us how you really feel. Yes, it is too nice to part out. There is a lot of E24 inventory out there on Craigs list from $1000 to $12000. This one is much nicer then a some I have seen for $10,000 +.

I didn't think Federal spec you could get a manual past 86? Front spoiler is different from mine. This is a Euro car maybe?

Manuals are rare to see in 88 and 89 cars (with the B35), but they did exist. Bumpers/ Spoilers were changed for 88/89 (World bumpers and world engine).

Why would anyone want to part out a perfectly good car..?
If the car is as good as it looks on the pictures I would consider it a easy project or it could even be used as is. I feel sad seeing cars like this end up in the junkyard instead of being taken care of.

What is the steering wheel from, I love it I want one for my 89, your price is way to low for an 88 5spd even needing paint. 88-89 5 speeds are rare!!!!!

My humble opinion.

Everyone's jumping on Bryan like it was his listing...it isn't! He simply posted the link to a Craigslist posting he found. I repeat: Bryan is NOT PARTING THE CAR! It's not his car! If you feel strongly that it shouldn't be parted (I do, too, but can do nothing about it), contact the seller and buy it!

My fault for not pointing that out. Sometimes I do sometimes I don't.

Last I saw the car was still for sale, and the seller would consider a lower price. He stated it needed paint but it looks pretty nice. A person could at least drive it for awhile.

That wheel fits like factory, I wonder if it's a euro wheel w/o airbag or something. This car is an awesome deal, I'm glad it's across the country from me or I'd have to have it...
Hope someone identifies the steering wheel.

Yep I know. I agree this is a good deal. This is an owner that it appears knows 6's. Front spoiler looks sweet, that cost some money. Wheels and tires he says he has $1500 in them. That interior looks very nice. I can live with some clear coat issues for awhile, it's a late production manual, probably an LSD.

I did ask him for a side photo of the car, and a close up of the body issues. He said it has some rust around the front wheel wells. Seller never followed up.

Steering wheel looks like a Z1 wheel. (the little roadster with E30 basis, with the drop down doors) These were never officially imported. But I'm pretty sure that is the source of this wheel.
