Found someone on EBay selling parallel flow condensers

Post by madman »

Hi, anybody have any experience with UAC products? No affiliation but would appreciate any feedback.

Also, does the condenser on an 86 differ from one on 89?

Want to start a group buy for an direct fit a/c condenser that Classic auto has.

They have what they claim are the last 12 of the PF condensers they bought from a now defunct company in California. Someone on Bimmerforums bought what was the last one and "supposedly" from them a while back. They now have bought the last of what was made. They want $299 for it. It is a direct fit not niggling required.

I figured we can lower the price maybe $50 a piece if we buy 10-12.

This version fits 79 to 87 e24's

I don't know how how different it is but it is a different part number. I would have to call classic auto and find out.

Updated my avatar but can't seem to include my signature...

I own an '84 Henna M635csi....

I have shown it a bit in my "racing brakes for my M" thread.

Still lust after an '86 Lotus Esprit Turbo that I owned right after getting out of High school (see my avatar: that's not me it's Roger Moore  )

My experience is that AC adds weight to the front of the nose heavy car, and therefore, it's just best to remove the most of it possible.

The esprit was my FAVORITE James Bond car back when I was younger. Not the submarine one, the turbo one. I loved the way it looked. Now, it would be a tough decision between the Esprit and the Aston v8 Vantage Volante, but I'd probably just take the DB5 or a new one.

If you want to see the Lotus, visit the Dezer Collection in North Miami that has this and other Bond cars and memorabilia. They have a website and two buildings with over 1100 cars.

I'm in Tampa, and I'll be stopping by Classic on Tuesday afternoon. If the PF condensors really are in stock, I'll buy one, and post pics. I'll also see how many are available and let everyone know.

I could be up for one of these condensers as the one on my recently bought '86 is a bit crusty. Will know next week hopefully.

I'll probably will give them a call tomorrow.. Per your post on BF, looks like it should fit/drop in with the exception of maybe some modification for the fan mount ? I can probably handle that...probably go hunt for a compressor and an o-ring kit as well as some hoses next
Thanks

As you guys know, I purchased my condensor last Tuesday 2/24, and this AM 3/1 I just got a call from the credit card fraud department of Bank of America. I paid for the condensor using a BoA/VISA card I haven't used in nearly 9 months, and in the last few days 3 fraudulent charges have shown up; 2 from match.com and 1 from bonanza.com. Coincidence??? I hardly think so. During the purchase my card was taken into another room, so I didn't see who handled it, but clearly someone at Classic stole the info, including the verification code, to attempt these 3 online transactions. No one else has ever taken this card out of my hands, ever, and I rotate among 13 cards, just so I can track activity such as this.

***UPDATE***
This afternoon 3/3, I received a call from Tim Cordelione, GM at Classic, and we spoke at length about this situation. I feel that Tim is being totally sincere when he states he has interviewed his employees individually and has concluded that the fraud I have described did not occur at his business. I have also called BoA again to ask for additional info, but they were not able to provide anything new, and IMO, they're not going to investigate this matter any further. I can only reiterate that my assumptions about where the fraud happened seemed logical and most-likely, considering my pattern of using that card, but who really knows? Perhaps it was just an unfortunate coincidence for both parties? Bottom line is that I purchased a high-quality part for my 6, and that Tim has done all he can to make sure his business is operating ethically and honestly.

I'd say to you guys who haven't grabbed one of these PF condensors that you may regret your decision when Summer is here, and your 6's A/C has not been upgraded.

Mine was build the same month..... The condenser looks like it will physically just fine, and the hose connections are in the correct spot.... The only thing that might need a little fabrication is the way the aux fan attaches.... Haven't looked real hard to see what it involves.....
I just picked one up because I thought I would be highly unlikely for someone to make a production run for a condenser that only fits in such a small number of cars, (88-89)so I will make this one work, one way or another....

Sorry, I didn't get all the packaging with mine, since I picked it direct from the manufacturer. I'm sure you can email them and they'll know the shipping weight.

There was no group buy from Classic Auto Air, as the vendor didn't want to give us any sort of price break. When I picked up mine in February, I think they had 11 left. I paid $321 w/tax, but no shipping.
