M3/M635 Telescopic Plug Spanners

Post by whiskeydry »

It appears that the Telescopic plug spanners for the M88 engine are now being remanufactured by BMW. Part no. is 7111 2225 101. These are now showing as $53.29 in RealOEM. These have started appearing on EBay at super inflated prices. There is one minor difference from the original that I have noticed in that there is no cut depression for your thumb around the latching ball bearing. The part number also does not appear stamped which I think the originals had?

Yes, it looks like BMW did run a batch of them but it was such a small number that the inventory was very quickly depleted.

I touched base with my BMW parts manager and he said that "they" show availability for late May (if you choose to believe Classic's timeframe; I'm still waiting for my 84M635 rear spoiler that was to be reissued in September 2014).
