They are the wrong seats for a 1986...The recaro's were phased out around 1984 in favour of the sport seats.

I suspect the option of ordering genuine Recaro seats stopped for the E24 with the introduction of the 'Highline' models unless you were buying an Alpina model.
For this specific car the Recaro's are original according to the VIN.

At a certain point the Recaro's were only available in black so that might have stemmed the choices somewhat; as for comfort, I have sports seats in my 1985 M635CSi and genuine Recaro's in my 1982 635CSiA and as comfortable as the Sports seats are (I have never found the 'Comfort' seats comfortable) the Recaro's are night and day better.

And I feel like a king in my recaro Classic C's
Last weeks drive to holland ( a round trip of 700 miles ) was much more comfortable than in the past
Believe it or not, it's my right knee that gives me aggro on long drives and the support and comfort recaros give all round is amazing

I saw this car, rust bubbles on offside quarter panel between rubbing strip and sill, rear panel had badly applied stone chip painted with body colour, the silver looked patchy (i.e when its been painted and the base coat is applied under too much pressure), rear tyres perished and a few other issues

Well it would appear to have had the remedial work completed, as it was on display at last weeks London Classic Car Show (on a dealers stand marked up at £52,500) and I must say it looked very nice on the whole, although the engine bay could have benefitted from a little TLC.
The sales chap recently commissioned to handle its sale was confident that the car would be sold by the end of the show. I hadn't the heart to tell him that nobody in the last two years has bought the car when it was available for £45k.
Also at the same show on display (with the BMW Car Club GB) were models including Kos' lovely 635, a 328 and a 507.
I went to the disappointing inaugural show a couple of years ago, and I have to say things have got better since. There were some truly iconic cars on show (e.g Lamborghini Miura JOTA) and watching Nakajima's 88 Lotus Judd being gunned INDOORS was as impressive as it was deafening.

Mileage now 89k (and showing a change of registration number).
At £47,950, this is the first incidence that I can recall of somebody moving on one of these cars on (in this case after 4 years) and they're not expecting a substantial increase in value.
What does this mean for the UK M635CSi market???

Still for sale, apparently, so either there’s something wrong with it, or it is overpriced? (Which is bad news for those of us who regard the cars as investments )
