FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
C187 LTT. Arctic Blue with Pearl Beige and 82k miles. The advert description tells us little about the cars condition or history.
The MOT history suggests the car has barely turned a wheel since it failed a couple of tests 3 years ago with rust issues.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-BMW-M635 ... escription
It also appears on Car and Classic with an asking price of £20,995.

Absolutely. If areas of structural integrity have corroded badly enough, the car is deemed unsafe and will fail the MoT test (an annual UK road-worthiness assessment for vehicles over three years old)

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
Of course - would you be stupid enough to drive or try to sell a car structually compromised due to corrosion? No, but some people are/would, so we have the annual safety tests here. Whilst not foolproof, the MOT test now carried out in the UK is generally pretty thorough (although some still manage to get hold of "bent" certificates).brickwhite wrote:you can fail MOT because of Rust?

#330 seems to have undergone a restoration during 2017 at the hands of an organisation called "Classic Legends", whom I haven't heard of before.
http://www.classiclegends.uk/
Judging by the name (an amalgamation of CLASSIC Heroes and Munich LEGENDS perhaps?) and a gallery featuring previous restorations of models such 02, E9, etc. they appear to be a historic BMW specialist.
Anyway, here's a gallery of the work done to #330.

Lot of paint.

Pics look good, but no asking price as far as I can see. I haven't heard of them either and couldn't find anything on a Google search. Sounds like a prime example of "passing off"
The next thing will be someone starting a company called "Munich Heroes"
Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
I'd seen those photos on another site but found it interesting that only the final painting was catalogued , no open heart surgery shown.

Yes, but you surely must agree that they have done what appears to be an excellent job?
Still, it would be wrong of me not to point out that the securing nut on top of the power steering reservoir is incorrect
I reckon it will be up for £50k +
Any more observations?

Not meant to be a critisicsm ,the car looks gorgeous. I just like to see metalwork .Pod wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 6:17 pmYes, but you surely must agree that they have done what appears to be an excellent job?

I've no doubt the standard would be high going by the quality of the painting/paintwork on the car.
Nice to see it being done thoroughly , right down to freshly sprayed paint on the plug lead caps....

Bodywork apparently done very well, but a shame they didn't spend a little more time on adjusting the shut lines when they reinstalled the doors/wings/bonnet/boot

The wing mounted side repeaters are on the wrong sides and hence upside down...

The fitting up of the car lets the paintwork down , shame.Pod wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:25 am......and the throttle body caps (I've only seen them in blue or yellow - but I stand to be corrected!)olympia57 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 11:44 pm Not meant to be a critisicsm ,the car looks gorgeous. That's why I always like to see the guy's work that went before the painter too.

This is fun! I think the throttle body idle bypass screws are naked, with no yellow or blue cap. The vacuum take offs are either black or dark red, like these. Not keen on the cam cover and airbox without the polished logo.Pod wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:25 am......and the throttle body caps (I've only seen them in blue or yellow - but I stand to be corrected!)olympia57 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 11:44 pm Not meant to be a critisicsm ,the car looks gorgeous. Someone has nicked the sexy red spark plug caps and the sticker from the boot has fallen off - probably bits of the toolkit taken too.
Side repeaters still upside down, wrong foglights, and still on E34 15" rims.

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
Power steering reservoir nut still incorrect! It wouldn’t take much to put the car back to ‘factory standard’ - and that is the way that an M635CSi should look!
Having re-examined the photos, I’ve come to the conclusion that the paint job isn’t the best. Just look at the reflections in the paint. Most of the straight lines are not…….straight

Is it just me, or does the number "8" on the odometer have scratch marks on it?

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
I couldn’t see any scratches, but to my eye, the first ‘0’ and the ‘8’ are level, whilst the other digits are lower. It is not unusual for the last digit (or maybe the last two) to be at a different level as they are running up the miles and often need to settle. However, in my experience the other digits should all line up perfectly as they will have had plenty of time to set. I’m certainly not making any accusations as the odometer may just be sub-standard. The only method to prove this one way or another would be to put significant miles on the car and see if the digits lined up after 90k - but that would take years! Caveat Emptor

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #330
Hey! Update.
The car definitely has been clocked. How many times, who knows?
I checked the DVLA MOT history which reads as follows:-
09/11/11 miles 77,663
09/08/12 miles 87,294
09/09/13 miles 81,966
I could have accepted that the ‘87’ was incorrectly input and should have been ‘77’, but that still leaves the last three digits pointing to an ‘adjustment’.
I cannot imagine that somebody would only clock it once for a relatively small reduction, so my money is on several haircuts, especially if it was in the hands of a single owner for a number of years.
