Re: A very expensive M6 at Bonhams auction
I have first hand knowledge of this car, can definitely vouch for authenticity.......There is a lot more to the story on this car then "sat around for 30 years"... I have sat in this car, and can say, its probably as close to new as you can get... definitely all original...... wondering if they got it running? I know it had not ran in 20 years...

This M6 on ebay was built 20 cars before the Bonhams car. Its a "high" mileage car at 36K and "cheap " bidding only up to $42K

Now that's a nice-looking M6, and it deserves a premium price.

Re: A very expensive M6 at Bonhams auction
Based on an original as-tested price of $58,720 (per Car and Driver magazine in 1987), that amount would be equivalent to $125,524 in today's dollars, adjusted for CPI inflation.

I hope so. It would probably end up on the Chasing Classic Cars show.Pod wrote:Did Wayne Carini buy it

Re: A very expensive M6 at Bonhams auction
I'd like to know if the buyer was a private party or another dealer. Lots of shill bidding goes on at some of these large commercial auctions, but I couldn't say Bonham's is in that group of scammers. Mec*m surely is. Sue me.

Re: A very expensive M6 at Bonhams auction
Depending on CPI, it could be as much as $140k. Still, well below the price of a new M6. Good to see them getting close to the $100k barrier. I remember when mid$30k was the go with a showroom example at $48k. Doubled in price since 2009.Lopena wrote:Based on an original as-tested price of $58,720 (per Car and Driver magazine in 1987), that amount would be equivalent to $125,524 in today's dollars, adjusted for CPI inflation.
