Important English auction?

Post by Pod »

Classic Car Auctions are currently listing six 635s in their June 2017 auction, as follows:-

1982 mid-estimate £27.5k;
1983, £13.5k;
1985 (x2) 12.5K;
1986, £11k;
1990, £6k.

(all plus 12% hammer fee inc. VAT)

The late-ish Highline looks like an absolute bargain compared to the others, with 144k on the clock.

I think this auction is important for all of us owners here in The UK as it will surely give a clear indication of the true state of the market and value of our cars. Interestingly, there are no M635s in the lot list thus far. I will be watching the progress of the auction closely. Will the number of identical models cause some withdrawals, or will it induce others to consign :-k

Two of those cars are very low mileage (63k, 58k) with one being very, very low (19k miles) so I think they will only represent a very small corner of the market; I would suggest the sums the other cars realise would better represent the bulk of the UK 635CSi market, although those sums could be skewed in this auction by having those vey low mileage cars alongside them.

1997 Alpina B12 5.7 L (1 of 2 rhd)
1995 Alpina B10 4.6 Touring (1 of 1 rhd)
1985 BMW M635CSi (1 of 524 rhd)
1982 BMW 635CSiA (1 of 100's left from the 1000's made and still valiantly fighting against a rusty grave)
