1985 M635 going up on BAT

Post by Badgas »

Well Lads and Ladies, the time has come for me to part with my cherished M635. After looking for so long and to have found this one so close by was almost not to be believed. To have purchased it from Paul D, our Pacific Sharkfest organizer was my great good fortune which led to amazing relationships with the E24 community and a great friendship as a bonus. That community of course includes all of you here and over on Bigcoupe.

This car has not only been the best car I have owned but the most engaging and fun to drive. It has also been an amazing project that has kept me busy for countless hours of planning and execution to make it what it is today.Someone will get a fantastic driver that is also easy on the eyes. It will not take much to keep her up. At this point there are really no mechanical needs. Like a good mistress, she has been well looked after.

I have placed a link below with many pictures, all the service records and Car-Fax for all to peruse. There is also a several page write-up about the car. I expect the BAT listing will go live by the middle of next week or so. I am expecting a draft of the listing in the next couple of days. Once I approve it, it will go live for 7 days of hand wringing excitement.

I look forward to it with hope and sadness. I hope it finds a good enthusiast home that wants to take it to the next level, but I am truly sad to see it go. Now I guess I will get to see how strong and excellent driver with a strong re-built motor will bring.

You can't be that sad to see it go, or you wouldn't be selling it!

If I could keep it and the new car I would but I only have funding and space for one car.

Point taken - but don't you think the Audi looks rather like a Merc?

Mercedes always adds too many extra lines to the body work for my taste.

I will miss the community terribly. The Pacific Sharkfest has been the event of the year. I will stay in touch and may even make an appearance now and again. This is something that does not just wash off.

The listing is now up, which makes it real and a little weird= Real Weird. I know the next owner will enjoy the drive. I am kind of hoping someone buys it and drives it directly to Pacific Sharkfest. I may post a link to the Evite.

Jim, reviewing the ad, I noticed that you have a crank presumed to be from an S38B36 :-k

IIRC, that's an 86mm stroke, so are you now over 3.5L [-o<

Very honest ad, and I bet your auction is gonna scream come hammer time =D>

Once again, GLWS, and I do hope we continue to see you \:D/

Thank you very much. I certainly hope it does well. I am fairly confident that all the work will pay off. You are correct, it is +/-3.6L now and a true 10.5:1 CR.

I am hoping the buyer picks it up and goes to PSF. I will try to make it as well in my new ride. I would miss you guys to much.

I expect the bidding to get hot and heavy in the next <24 hours. If I had the $$$ I would be on this car immediately.

Ralph
i think the "hot and heavy" part has started as of this morning.
Could be a bit of a bar fight brewing with just over 6 hours left.

Crazy right? It did meet my reserve and I am happy with where it landed, the price being right in the range I thought it would be. 25-30.

The new owners sound great. It's going to Philly. Father and son that own Precision Auto Works there specialize in MBZ, BMW & Porche. The car will become a stablemate for the dads 3.0csi as it's a similar color. I think it's going to good owners that know what it is, how to care for it and most importantly drive and enjoy it.

My comment was easily predictable. No premonition necessary as the car is a beauty. I like how the winning bidder showed his intent with his large $$$$ chunk bids. He was not going to give up on this car. Well done Jim.
