FS: E34 M5 Brakes - Big Brake Upgrade

Post by tschultz »

For sale, 1991 BMW M5 3.6 Brakes, used

I thought I was going to use these as an upgrade but decided on more aggressive pads and brake bias valve instead (since my car doesn't have ABS). These brake calipers are getting hard to find now.

315 x 28mm fronts
34112226873/874
34112226385
Front used pads

300 x 20mm rears
34211159659
34211160 399/400
no rear pads

The biggest difference with these over the E32/ e34 540i brakes is brake bias and resistance to brake fade in general. Yes, these are single piston but with E32 brakes you will always be rear biased due to e28 weight distribution. Not very safe on the track!

The E34 540i brakes develop 686 lb-ft of torque on the fronts at 500 psi line pressure; the rears produce 313 LB-ft, so the f:r bias is 69:31 (as a percentage). Adding the M5 front brake (rears are the same on US E34 M5's), which generates 720 LB-ft, changes the bias to 70:30

Upgrade over the stock brakes and will bolt right up on the following cars:
Will fit E34 530i 535i 540i M5
Also fits E24/E28 528e 533i 535i 535is M5 633CSi 635CSi M6 M635csi

Located in Denver, CO.

Asking $400 plus shipping. The previous owner had painted them red with what appears to be spray paint (just on the outer faces). Can get pictures if requested.
