Re: "M" #464 in UK.
I don't recognise this car, but has it been discussed on the forum before?
Bid to £12,000 so far with nine and a half days to go! Mileage high at 228k, no mention of timing chain work, but surely this must have been done at least once - and very probably will need doing again very soon .
I couldn't find the other advert the seller refers to, so no idea of the reserve (which has not been met).
I'm watching this one (as, no doubt, will other UK M635CSi owners) with great interest!

Bid to £20,500 so far with over six days to go. Reserve not met! However, it's a "private listing" so impossible to see exactly what the bidding pattern is and who is bidding. An auction to avoid, in my considered opinion

Re: "M" #464 in UK.
Well, it was unsold at £21,100 (with a rather suspicious £24k bid removed???). Re-listed and currently bid to about £5k with a £20k bid removed (just to try and discover the reserve, I imagine).
I don't know why some sellers make their auction "private" as it makes it appear there is something awry. Quite possibly the seller hasn't thought it through, but with ebay disguising bidders' identities these days there is absolutely no reason to do this. I certainly would not bid upon such an item, would you?

He could have noted that in the listing - but then any interested bidder would have known it needed doing again (as I suspected!)Soperman wrote:Vendor states timing chain was changed at 120k miles.Pod wrote:Bid to £12,000 so far with nine and a half days to go! The second eBay auction on this car has ended. Bids of up to £18,200 this time, but of course the reserve was not met.

Back on ebay @ £14,995 with no reserve. This is more like it IMO. I'm sure it will (should?) sell this time!
Still no mention of the timing chain work though

Sold for £15k. Interestingly, with seemingly minimal interest and bidding activity.

#464 is available once again at a forthcoming Barons Auction on December 11th, with a guide price of £11k - £14k
Doesn't appear to have been used much since it last surfaced.

I don't think it sold last time as the number of owners appears to still be four. No doubt the auctions were being "manipulated" at the time and the last one didn't flush out a genuine buyer!
I'll probably drive over next Monday to view the car.

Re: "M" #464 in UK.
Well, it made £18,000 + commission £2,160 = £20,160.
I attended the auction and was going to bid -but not at that level! It was interesting that it was knocked down to an internet bidder very quickly with bid increments at £1,000 per time! Put that in comparison with other lots which painfully crept up at £100 per bid - many of which didn't reach reserve!
So it goes to prove that there is a very strong market for the M635CSi.
As far as the car was concerned, it was well presented, if rather dirty. It had had a recent re-paint and didn't look to me as if was a "windows out" job. There was significant recent underseal over the whole of the car, so it is difficult to say how well it had been repaired. There were small things which indicated to me that it had been done on the cheap, such as missing covering plates on both front wings. Rust bubbling around the sunroof, especially on the nearside had not been addressed and it looked to me as if it had just been painted over. I was aware that the MOT had been done exactly three months prior to the sale date which somewhat worried me
For me, it would have been a DD, not an investment and with the high mileage, I doubt if it can be turned around in a few days and offered for £30K+........................but who knows?
Watch this space.

I saw it a few minutes ago. Glad to hear you’ve worked out which one it is! Now I’m wondering...........But at that price is it too good to be true?
Re: "M" #464 in UK.
The ad says the seller has set a "realistic reserve" and yet it's down as a "classified ad" so no bidding. Something isn't quite right!

Re: "M" #464 in UK.
If you read the thread, you’ll see that I was following this car with interest and took the time to attend the auction and go through the rigmarole of registration as a bidder. I had previously spoken to Barons who opined that the “right price” was no more than £14k and that I would probably get it for less as there had been very little interest in the car.
You will also note that there had been several “sales” on eBay which had not completed.
I must admit that I was piqued when the bidding shot up so fast (internet) that I felt unable to even raise my hand to make a bid. The car was knocked down very quickly indeed - probably in less than a minute and as I said, I was surprised that the bid increments were so large.
Well, now after examining the “new” eBay photos, One can see that they are identical to the Barons examples. This strongly suggests to me that the vendor is the same individual who was selling the car back in 2017/18. So what happened? Did the Barons sale fall through? If so, why? I can only surmise that someone went to a great amount of trouble (again) to ramp the price up. It’s not easy to pull the wool over an auction house’s eyes as they need a great deal of information as well as a financial commitment before they’ll allow you to bid.
I’d bet a pound to a penny that if you turned up at the vendor’s premises with the sum of £7995, you wouldn’t be leaving with that car! Is there anybody living locally with an hour to spare who wishes to give it a try???
You never know, I may be totally wrong and you may nab the bargain of the decade
Re: "M" #464 in UK.
I seen that too .
There have been a number of cars on Ebay recently advertised for a fraction of their "true" market value .
That is just a deceitful advert and one that would make me avoid the vendor like dogshit on the pavement .

Re: "M" #464 in UK.
Solved!
Since the seller had another fifty or so cars for sale and the photos were obviously lifted from an old auction, one can only surmise that a seller’s account was hacked and this was a fraudulent listing, hence the reason eBay obliterated it.
Now it all makes sense (to me at least!)

Hello folks. I’ve just joined bigcoupe.com
I’m the owner of #464 in the UK and bought it back in December 2018. I must’ve missed the eBay post last year but certainly a fraud.

Welcome to the forum! So you bought it at the Barons auction? Were you the internet bidder and if so, had you viewed the car before bidding?

Re: "M" #464 in UK.
Yes, I bid online and was unable to view the car beforehand so knew I was taking a plunge. I’d wanted a Highline and love the dolphin grey with grey interior. Knew it would need some money to get it in order - all the mechanicals have been gone through and the leather on the dash was redone. It runs a treat. Bodywork is good having had some work done previously and I’ll get the roof done sometime this year. Being #464 it was just short of the Motorsport Editions given it was been built in September ‘88. One thing intrigues me - why did BMW decide to change the positioning of the electric seats from the centre console to the seat base so late in its production cycle?
