Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $400 OBO
Hi Folks,
I lurk on here and don't post all that much. I'm a prolific poster/buyer/seller over on e9coupe.com. My friend and I are parting out an euro 635 CSI and keeping the drivetrain. In addition to a complete car, I have a headlight washer setup. I like to be as forthcoming with my ads as possible, so I want to let you know that the setup is untested and of coarse nearly 40 years old. Feel free to PM me about other parts as well, but we don't expect to take this thing down to a turkey carcass.
The setup includes everything you see in the pictures. The headlight grills, the headlights (sealed) with buckets and special trim rings (that have the stopers). The motors and wipers. The dual bung washer tank and dual washer pump. Thw wiring, and the control relay. The wiring is for the wipers is integrated into the chasis wiring like you wouldn't believe. We are including most of the chasis wiring forward of the firewall. We did cut the harness however (probably shouldn't have done that but oh well). You will want to buy new wiper tubing and check valves - available new for a low price. There is a good writeup that displays the proper routing of the wiper plumbing.
Disclaimer: these parts are nearly 40 years old. We haven't tested the wiper motors yet but we will this week. The motors are known for going bad evnetually, but there is a good writeup on this forum that discusses how to fix them linked below. I can also throw in a set of mercedes motors if you do want some "practice motors", as seen below. I bought these on eBay for $35. They are the same motor but the shaft is a larger diameter. The washer pump motors can die as well, but the benze forum has a good writeup on fixing these simple motors, as seen below. The most important thing about the e24 setup is the tank and the dual motor bracket. You can swap regular working pumps onto the bracket.
If you are just going for the look and dont' want these to function, I will knock $100 if you let me keep the wiring and control relay. I have everything for my e9 except the wiring, but I didn't have the heart to break up this kit.

Bump!
I’m surprised more people don’t want to set their car apart from the rest. I suppose I’m just a fanatic about these things. Shoot me an offer!
They are a bit more common on the e24. Not so much in the e9 world. There is a video on youtube that walks down a line of 58 e9’s at big BMW anniversary at Monterrey. Only one e9 had wipers (Paul Cain’s “3.8 CSI”), and those were e24 retrofits.

Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
I wonder if they can be made to work on an e12
Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
The e12 arms are the same as the e9. The motor is correct but the shaft will be too short. The e9/e12 wiper arms are like hens teeth sadly. I paid $400 just for the arms and another $500 for NOS motors.
With that said Paul Cain made e24 wipers work on an e9, so it is feasible that you could do the same on an e12z

This is interesting, I didn't know that. Thx for postingThe e12 arms are the same as the e9. The motor is correct but the shaft will be too short
I have some of these parts for my cars. I have read somewhere that the early series I wiper motor assemble won't fit series II headlight buckets and visa versa. Do you know, is this true? If so are yours early or late?
Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
Just to clarify, the e12 (not e12 based e24) wiper setup is the same as an e9. I’m not sure if folks are referring to their early coupes as e12’s on here or not.zinnocoupe wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 5:07 pmThis is interesting, I didn't know that. I’m uncertain about the compatability between early e12 based coupes and late model ones. Realoem would tell you if the headlight bucket changed.
These are what e12 sedan wipers look like. The wiper is bolted directly to the motor without the linkages found on an e24.

Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
OK Thx for the clarification. I didn't understand the differences before your explanation. I think generally on this forum we call the different cars Series I or Series II cars. Or e12 based and e28 based
As far as I have read the series I wiper motors will not work on series II cars. I'm not sure of the differences.
Thx for posting

IIRC the only difference is the electrical connection.

OH OK Ron, Cheers. I actually thought of you when asking this as I know you've spent time refurbing them etc. I've got lots of parts for these but never actually looked at them to figure out what I've got and whats garbage.
Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
Zinno,
I do still need the wiring if you have those spare bits laying around. Although I'm going to take it from this kit if I don't get any takers soon. Somebody make me an offer!

Markos, I'm sorry I know I don't have any wiring. Just a whole bunch of random motors etc.
Re: Euro 635 - Complete HL Washer/Wiper Setup - $600 OBO
Come on folks. Don’t get caught with dirty headlights!
I just spend $300 on the NLA cowl tank for my e9 project. That is 10% of the purchase price of the car. :) Am I the only one who is nuts about HL wipers?

I don't see anything from you
FYI - Another member pointed out that these are concave sealed beams on here. Consider the lenses worthless and make offers accordingly.
