Save this Shark
1982 633 CSi (pre facelift / 1st gen) – two owner CA central valley car, Sapphire blue over Pacific blue leather, very nice original paint and interior, located in the Sacramento CA area.
Was a completely trouble-free daily driver until about a year ago when the plug for one of the flywheel sensors disintegrated and disconnected – engine died and will only restart when dead cold, have not been able to determine why it refuses to run normally since (ECU professionally tested by Module Experts, Jacksonville FL; injectors cleaned, sensors tested, etc).
No rust, no leaks, no collision damage, cold a/c, no auto trans issues, passed CA smog every two years through 2016. Everything works (windows, sunroof, cruise control, etc); 16x8 3 piece BBS RS’s (two with recent 225/50x16 Yokohama Avid Envigors, other two need replacement) + original alloys, complete tool kit, Hella H4 / H1 headlights, Pioneer 4 channel sound system (plus all the components of a high-end Alpine system installed in the mid 80’s), professionally tinted windows.
New battery, fuel system & tank drained of old gas, new fuel filter. Time to let it go (family commitments, other projects and an approaching downsize taking most of my time and energy), can’t bring myself to donate it to a charity that will undoubtedly wind up sending it to Pick & Pull. Clear CA title, Non-Op paid through mid-February 2019 (no back fees), will have to be trailered. $850 to a good home…..
Also have a complete pre-facelift E24 Euro bumper conversion (front & rear bumpers & brackets that’s negotiable with the sale or available separately.

Great to hear. If I didn’t have four six series cars already in my shop, I would have been all over this one.

Hi Paul, Craig here. I have two E12 base 635 projects and have transferred titles of a couple 1980 633s to my brother who drives them some. We have been really enjoying them recently. Where are you located and what 6 series vehicles are you involved with?

WOW
All the dominos fell in the proper direction for me with this car. First time I saw it posted, and by an unknown member, I thought sure it was a SCAM. I'm glad I actually replied as this is by far the best buying experience I have ever had. I want to sincerely thank the sellers as they made it a very personable experience that I will surely remember.
Barry and his wife Jana were wonderful stewards of this car for the past 12 years. Just some very small cosmetic issues which adds to the character of a beautiful, original, nearly 40 year old car. This was Jana's daily driver and she took magnificent care of it. Unfortunately it has encountered running issues that I am slowly sorting out. This particular car, being an 82, is the readheaded stepchild previously discussed. It is an e12 chassis with an e28 (motronic) engine management system. The 3 speed auto will get swapped out for a 5 speed.
I will never sell this car. It will only be handed down to one of the younger generation in my family. And only after I've had my time with it. Let the fun begin!!

Re: Save this Shark
I'm sure its in the best hands possible. Have fun , I'm sure it will be running like a top in no time. I'll give you $900 for it!!!
Re: Save this Shark
Congrats Ralph - that's a really impressive car. The description in the sale ad sounds almost too good to be true doesn't it! It seems the previous owners were pretty fond of it too, so it's good its now in your hands as someone who truly values it and knows its worth.
Re: Save this Shark

Re: Save this Shark
Just ran it in the garage today Tom. Initially the car had multiple problems starting with broken reference sensors and both fuel pumps inop. PO said he broke the sensors. Soot Black Bosch Platinum plugs came out but compression is consistant at 140-145. Broken coil wire was operational but not in a good state.
Most recent maintenance record showed a $500 price for changing the O2 sensor and trouble shooting the No-Start in Nov 2015. Car was returned to the PO in Jan 2016 at 196,089 miles. Same as when it went in. It's at 196,091 now after a few runs down the street.
I am trying to finish the baseline on it with replacing both fuel pumps and any other broken parts. New filters, Belts and Hoses, Cleaned Injectors, TB and ICV, touched up some wiring issues. Car starts and runs well with an AFM adjusted to run lean. Restart when warm is still not right as it seems to get rich and takes a few seconds to get itself right. It's very close to being where I want it so I'll start a new thread at that time. Hope to be driving it in November.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
