My Freshly Refurbished 1979 M90 Euro on BaT

Post by Slownrusty »

Hi Friends - After much consideration I have decided to sell my freshly refurbished '79 Euro M90, it is now live on Bring A Trailer. I have over $25k in receipts and the car is really lovely and drives perfectly. Everything has been gone through from new mechanicals, all new suspension, brakes and chassis components, new leather and fresh paint.

There is a build thread on this forum as well.

Here's the link.

Very Nice car S&R. Watching it closely to see how folks react to a completed car. Good luck

Thank-you kindly Paul, it will be sad to see it go (if it hits reserve), especially after all the work and money spent. The good news is that I am keeping my '86 Bronzit and will be my new fun project! So more to come on that.

My best,
Yasin

Remember it’s the final hour is when it gets exciting

And please report back on your experience with BAT. Good or bad, feedback and information is always welcome. Seems you’ve done quite a bit with their site

Thanks Ralph - The shark picked up some bids last night and it will be interesting to see what the final hour brings for sure - wish me luck sir!

Yes I have been on BaT for over 10 years now as I am a car junkie that remember silly automotive facts and trivia dating back to the 1970s, so chime in regularly on cars I know well and have also bid as well on a few cars over the years. I even built an addition onto my house to display my thousands of brochures, magazines and models I have collected over the past 45+ years. I distinctly remember BaT long before it was an exclusive auction site when it was only about finding special cars for sale on different websites, now it has evolved into a money making machine!

I auctioned one car previously (a 1987 Porsche 928 5speed) a few years ago in 2019 and the peanut gallery tore it up as it definitely was a wants and needs car although it ran great. That was a rough first experience and you have to not let the negative comments drag you in. The BaT auctioneer (after the auction) actually commended me (via private message) on my professionalism. You have to really stay engaged and address the comments and requests as they come up.

Thanks Paul, the '86 Bronzit is a US Spec car that I am converting to Euro bumpers and turbocharging, it will be new fun science experiment!

I was thinking $25k+ just based on the work done. Add in the euro/M90/dogleg/lsd and it makes sense to go that high. Well done

Thank-you all!! I really appreciate it and if any of you commented during the auction, thank-you as-well. I received some really fantastic positive feedback during the auction, support and even lots of private messages as well.

I thought the bidding fizzled out at $21k and I was a bit glum but also getting mentally ready to hold onto the car for a few more years and keep enjoying it but magically and literally with one (1) minute left those two bidders really brought some excitement to the auction.

The reserve was set at a fair number to re-coop the cost of the parts. After that I still have about 700-hours of my time that I devoted to the car...its all part of the passion.

Thanks again everyone!

I saw it as well, with just one minute to go, the bidding went up pretty rapidly. Can imagine this was a existing moment for you.
Hope to welcome the new owner here on BigCoupe soon.

To follow-up, overall this was a positive BaT experience. I was fully paid within 48-hours of the auction closing, the car was picked up this past Friday and was delivered to the new owner in Phoenix yesterday....so all in all within one week of the auction closing, I was paid and the car was delivered.

Here is the goodbye from my front lawn:

Congrats on the sale. Nice Shark. Glad I didn’t snag it for $635…. I need to reassess my Hagerty at 12$K. Not nearly as nice as mine needs paint but otherwise is pretty solid.

Bob - Indeed Adios and Farewell.

I'll definitely mention Big Coupe to the new owner, I saw he joined the E24 Face Book group today, posting pictures when the car was delivered to him.

Thanks,
