87 M6

Post by JCS »

Hi everyone, I am new to BIG coupe, I have owned this car since 1995. I am the second owner, it now has 67,000 miles. I ran into financial trouble, and was going to sell the car. I finally got a new job in April, and have changed my mind. I want to keep my Shark! I have been fixing it up the last 12 months. I recently located a fellow M6er that is selling new reproduction M6 lables. He has been selling them thru e-bay, or you can contact James at [email protected]. I am currently having a brake problem. I wonder if anyone has experienced draging brakes, all four wheels lock on. I have rebuilt the brakes, and installed a new accummlator. I am thinking it might be the brake booster.

3-4-11 I fixed the brake booster, rebuilt with new o-rings, and a new 750i M/C.

I am adding a photo link.

I just purchased some old BBS wheels, style 5's, 8x17 RC 090, painted WHITE (all over)OMG!

These will replace the chrome 18 inch 5 spoke.

Hello Jay,

Very Nice car! I'm very partial to the Red Sharks and yours being an M6 makes it even better.

Did the rebuilt booster fix the dragging brake problem? I've read it's a likely culprit.

M6Zealot (James) is a good guy to know. He has several nice items for the sharks.

Geepers that is a clean car. I love it. Don't ever sell her, unless it's to me!

What do you mean by "M6 labels"?

Here is a pic of my recent purchase of 4-BBS 8 x 17 RC 090. I plan on a total refinish, with rim polish, painted hyper silver centers and new rim screws.

These are used for all our cars (and probably a great many other BMW models?) and not just the M6!

Hi Guys & Gals,

I just scored a warning triangle from German E-Bay.

For your information the red case measures 457mm long X 135mm wide X 40mm thick.

Perfect for your M6 trunk battery recess.

I think that the M6 cases were originally blue? No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi all,

I just installed a Blaupunkt CD43 into my M6. It is not new but it looks new.

I bought it from a BMW guy on E-Bay UK, Rob Marrs. He provided every thing I needed to install the unit into my e24.
I also ordered the 17 pin wire harness with bare labled tails, and the 90 degree antenna adaptor.

It comes with all of the necessary paperwork.
The manual, wiring diagram, security radio code, and how to change (program) the country band width mode.

I highly recomend Rob!

In the photos are my old cassette unit, and the newer CD 43, with CD player, on top. Note the CD 43 has a thicker faceframe.

Looking good! I bought a CD43 from Rob about 1.5 year ago, very nice guy!

I think this is about the only 'modern' BMW car stereo that looks good in an E24  Looks and color blend in nicely.
The M88/3 was all about power, no cats. At idle the raw fuel from the exhaust will make your eyes water like an old V-8 powered muscle car's exhaust did.

Thanks Jay !
It looks really good installed in your M6. I believe this is the way I will go with my upgrade.
As Stoffie said .... looks like it came that way from the factory =D>

Staggered 17 x 9 style 5's

Post by JCS »

Hi All,

I scored a pair of 17 x 9 style 5's, they will be refinished this winter.

I am looking forward to replacing the 18 inch chrome 5 spoke wheels, with staggered style 5's.

Thanks to a BF member Nelson ( +1 ) for the pair. A great transaction.

New refinshed Style 5's rc090/91

Post by JCS »

Hey Forum members,

Well I finally received my painted silver centers and caps, about 2 days ago.

I got the BBS red/gold emblems just today.

I started this project about 1 1/2 yrs ago, hope to have on car photos in a week or 2.

<img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6EjU ... CT0006.JPG" height="600" width="800">
<img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kHw0 ... CT0005.JPG" height="600" width="800">
<img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-5km8 ... CT0011.JPG" height="600" width="800">

The Red/Gold emblems are not a perfect fit, they are made in Japan, the 3 tabs on the backside are about 2.6mm to long. I decided to use a Dremal hobby tool to modify the RS 1/4 height center nut. It can be done, with the use of a 15.5mm dia sanding drum and some planning and patience.

Added an '88 m6

Post by JCS »

Hi, Fellow Forum Members,

Well I picked up the '88 m6 from Mike yesterday, a fellow BC member, a really great guy.
He did some very nice restoration, while the m6 was in his care of 3.5 yrs.
It has 96,000 miles and I am the 4th owner. This will be my daily driver, but I work from home, so very little miles per year.

Awesome thanks to Ralph from BC, for sending me the link of the car for sale!!!!

I saw that many photos were lost on this post, when BC changed servers.
Most of these photos are still in my website, see links on my footer below.

The '88 is on the left, with 96,00 miles.
The '87 is on the right, with 67,500 miles.

Very Nice Jay. I'll have to come out and get a good look at the new arrival. All red tail lights look nice as well - very nice on a zinno shark.
