yeah - seats are better than previous because they hold body much better and now during winter they don?t feel as cold as leather in the morning :)

it?s bmw achatgreen which is very dark, so it looks black usually :lol:

news everyone - car worked fine till 0,5 bar(7,5PSI) of boost but I tried 0,6 and headgasket didn?t make it - so I have to renew headgasket and lower the compression with another pistons propably

more work but it is worth it

and surprise - fuel is still managed by L-jetronic after some tweaks and it is fine - AFR under full load was near 12:1 which is fine

Stock headgasket should be able to deal with 1 bar or more @ stock compression.
Old headgaskets will fail easier than new ones, you should try with just a new one at first.
Also M102/M106 headgaskets are said to be stronger than M30 ones, just a tip..

12:1 AFR on full throttle/boost is "perfect", but is it stable?
PS: I have ran a stock M30B28 on 0,65 bar without any problems, old headgasket.
That engine also ran on L-jetronic, but it's rod bearings (from 79') got worned out.. :-$

so she is alive again

I reduced advance and it looks fine now

Turbo give wings to that car - it was slow in low-revs, now it accelerates happily even under 3k RPM

I had problems with car after winter - sometimes it was OK, and sometimes it has fuel delivery problems

I changed fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator and nothing improved

today I changed AFM a voila - it is working perfect

after that I went to our meeting of old cars here

I had to fabricate shield for intake manifold (AFM and filter) - it was quite hard to make it fit perfectly and make it easily removable if needed but here it is (not nice, but useful)

I didn't realize the other pages before my previous post.....first and foremost that little red BMW is what started it all ( I am reading a book on the origins of BMW and the beginning of the six coupe) and that is the Austin based Dixi car... 1st BMW Pre-war! The other is the great grandfather of the 6 series......the 327/28, post-war ( I think)! Nice photos!

Also...on a previous photo you had the mass/airflow on the intake during fabrication, then it was gone in another pic when everything was together...what happened to it??

In order to compensate for the higher torque, BMW "increased" the displacement when using turbo (just on the badge that is). M106 in 745 turbo is 3.4l. I think this is a remnant from back in the days when BMW was using low volume engines (like 1.4l) and yet could participate in tournaments where others had bigger engines. I could be wrong here, but I remember that there was something like that. :)

I moved AFM before turbo behind the new shield in front of wheel

745 had two similar but not same engines
M102 - 3,2l running on Jetronic
and after facelift - M106 - 3,4l running on Motronic with oil cooled pistons - it has same power as M102 but with using lower boost level

x45 should mean power output similar to naturally aspirated 4,5 litre engine which they had only as v8 or v12 test samples

they built it to compete with the 450sel benz and it had the power of a 4.5, so thats what they went with

This was a snapshot into the future labelling models without corresponding to their engine displacement. Look at BMW now.

In Motorsport classification down under turbo displacement equiverlant is x 1.7. So we call it now the 648i.

The 2.8ltr were a pretty happy engine pretty well on the se par as the m30b34 low comp engine.
With turbocharging I'd imagine they would be brilliant.
Can't wait to the snow buggers off so we can see all of DC's cars driven on te roads.

after this meeting I was quite sure, that engine works fine for dyno

and result is

218 HP and 280 lbs-ft of torque (377Nm)

torque is same like 745i e23 but 1000 RPM lower and total power is just 218 HP because bad fuel mixture over 4500 RPM - i have to massively improve fuel delivery and then stage 2 is coming :D

Yes power seems to stall over 4500 as said due to poor mixtures
How is it setup ? Rising rate fpr?
Original dme ? Or standalone ?

it has original l-jetronic with afm and original fuel injectors but I already have bigger injectors ready

but now I have bigger problem, because my auto tranny didn´t make it(again) - it broke down two days after dyno

I have manual tranny waiting, but I have to buy also all others parts needed for exchange

last drive with her ...

I like auto tranny in this car, so I repaired it again - problem was in tranny brain so I changed it from another one, gave it new filter and oil and voila - it is working again as new

then I tried wheels from 850i - what do you think about it?
