Got some new wheels..

Post by Martin S »

Could not resist the opportunity when my long time favourite rims came on sale close to home.

Made a quick mock-up yesterday by just putting them beside the car, but I think it will look great.

They are BBS RC300/301
8,5x18" ET 13 front with 235/40-18
10x18" ET 25 rears with 265/35-18

The rears are att the tyre shop for new rubber as we speek, so hopefully I will get them mounted tonight. (And they will hopefully fit..)

They did look huge on the first mock-up picture !
Got them mounted yesterday.
They don't look quite as big now.

ET25 and 10" wide rims at the rear is really on the limit on the inside of the tyre.
Right now its about 3-4 mm from the trailing link.
Could use a 5-10 mm spacer to push them out against the fender lip wich would look good I think, but as it is now they are not rubbing the fender lip at all. Amazing how much room there is in those wheel housings !

Ride quality was only marginally worse than my old 16". Tracking a bit more on bad roads but still ok.

Car looks a bit high at the rear, but overall i'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Nice wheels, they fit pretty well. They go well with the color of your car.
My dad got a set on his E31 a couple years ago, Really nice looking wheels.

Yes it is lowered. I have no idea what brand of springs it has. But its almost too low at the front I think. At the rear it could be slightly lower, but then I need also shorter shock absorbers or the springs will sit loose in their seats if I lift the car with a jack.

Um, that's not REALLY a problem unless you jump the car a lot.

Unfortunatley it is. At least once a year since the annual inspection in sweden will not like it :(

Then your only choice is Bilstein Sports. They are the only ones made shorter.

Good info there M?chteWei?

Thought there might be something from maybe an E28 lowering kit that could fit, but there is usually no info about the length of the shocks.
