Greetings from Norway, My 85 635CSi

Post by tyggern »

Hello.

this is my first ever "shark" wanted one since the late 80s. when i was a young kid. but buildt some other cars before i got this one now.

first of all i want to thank all the users for shearing great knowledge.
found more than one thread that has been usefull already..

Over to my baby...

a good used 1985 635Csi.

the plan is that the car is gooing to become "over some time" a good trackday car that also can be used for crusing.
restoration will start this winter.

this is after a good detailing of the interior...

The tartan plaid interior is a "love it/hate it" type of material, but she appears to be in great shape

Now, not sure about those wheels :-?

Just kidding

Curious what model they are from however, thinking from a later model BMW, just not sure where I've seen them before :-k

Again, welcome to the madness #-o

They look like X5 wheels?

correct!

They are E53 X5 wheels, bmw style 132 9x19 and 10x19

had them in a corner in my garage, used to be on my E91 3-series.
so i put them to use, looks better than the original 14" wheels.

stands out from the crowd, might change them for som split BBS, CH/CK or Alpina/hartge
wheels in the right size..
i know they might not be everbodys choice and i respect that. but i feel they look quite good :)

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking car. I like the interior.

What kind of suspension are you running? Usually when really large wheels are used the whole car gets jacked up in the air, but your is sitting quite nicely.

Thanks for sharing,

thank you, the car is curently on Bilsteins and H&R springs (euro type with TÃœV blue springs)
i am gooing to do a mod to the rear damper because i think its a litle to high.
and also use some other spring seats in the front.

next year it will most likely be on K-sport coilovers.
thinking of making me a "project topic" on the car.

Your original paint looks great. Has it been a winter garage queen?

Thank you.
But i dont think there is much left of the "original" paintwork. most panels have been re painted at some point. the car has also a few rustrepairs.

But i have wetsanded and polished most of the car, since i do a lot of detailing.
The paint has many small errors when you get realy close but at a distance the car looks great :)

been to a few, but it needs upgrades ;)
So front uprights have been sent to H&R for coilovers build.

E34 540i brakes have been refurbished, and with new zimmermann formula Z discs and Performance Friction pads i hope brakes will do.

new wheels are also on the way :)

A short update on the Norwegian shark :)

Got tyres on the ACS wheels. went for Pilot sport Cup.
And tok the car for a short drive...

Image

Image

Also tok it for a drive to work :) a good daily driver..

Image

Now i am just waiting for some dust shields.
Before i mount the new H&R coilovers with E34 M5/540i brakes with Zimmermann Formula Z discs and Performance friction pads.
Hoping this should provide the stopping power i want on the track :)
together with a nice low mileage steering gearbox

My word those AC Schnitzers look so much better than the modern BMW wheels you had on before. The car looks excellent now.
