hi guys
just thought I would share this here with you
picked up this old girl from a old guy that could not drive anymore.
brought online sight unseen except for some crappy small far away pics :)
NZ new car with over 300,000km on it
factory fitted with 14' bottle caps not even the 390metrics these normally come with
tan electric seats , well worn old leather seats .
no leather on the steering wheel
cracked dash , odometer not working , a/c not blowing cold
drove about 2 hours north of where I am to pick this up after already paying them for it
drove it back with no issues etc.

have slowly been working on this over the last year etc

how it looked when I first brought it.

(brought back in july last year)
doing small work on it in between running my bmw parts and cars business

swapped the wheels over to some 17" staggered style 32's from a e39
235/45 fronts 255/40 rears
converted it to a 5spd manual (using a kit from a e28 528i )
then came the big job
stripping the whole interior out to replace with black leather ,
grey carpet (from a e28) replaced the cracked dash ,
fixed all the little things like odometer gears , OBC backlight ,
stereo wiring , aircon fan rattle noise.
replaced the rear speaker set up with the premium types ,
fitted the fog lights back in
replaced old cracked taillight lens
new number plates .
regassed the A/C
tune the engine a little (hunting idle)
had some brackets made up so I could fit some e46 sport seats in
would have fitted e24 sport items if they could be found
but these will do for now.
maybe will swap to manual seat bases when I get some in as they don't go quite as low as I would like.

still to do is sort out the terrible brakes (replace the brake bomb)
also will be fitting e34 540i front and rear brakes and trying to fit the e34 540i brake servo and master cylinder while I am at it.
also have a lower tighter suspension setup to go into it

may do a diff swap if one comes up it has the large case 3.07 no lsd
in there now , I am not looking to make this a race car , just a nice cruiser
already have a really quick e28 M535i with a 3.65L fully worked M88 engine in it

let me know what you think or if you have any ideas on this

also on the list of things to do
is replace the rear bumper with another one I have which is a bit straighter
replace the 3 chrome top parts from the front bumper
maybe respray the front bumper while its off.

replace the worn door hinges ( have another set from a lower km car)

also have done the door seals ,
removed the mudflaps (or dirt traps)
replaced the sleightly cracked/bent front grilles and corner lights etc.
also I wanted to fit a nice newer sports steering wheel but the car had the earlier course spline steering , so had to swap the whole top steering colum
over for a newer one and get the ignition barrol recoded to work with the orginal keys etc ,
have fitted it with a mtec wheel like it had , but I do have a mtec 2 wheel to go on it soon.

also I need to sort the sump and front cover oil leaks
engine runs ok
a little smokey , head looks to be redone at some stage , but bottom end I would say is original 300,000 plus km

some pics of how it was after picking it up

Looked nice before the rehab other than the crusty leather. Still can't understand how you drive on the "other" side of the road.

hi thanks
yes they are e46 coupe sport seats .

not a fan of tan interiors (always look dirty and worn etc)
maybe they are nice when new , but not in my line of work :)

always wanted a manual 635csi in a dark colour with black interior.

yea RHD cars are the best :P

actually did own a lhd white one for a short time , but being jap/us spec had the under powered 3.5L in it
