My two old BM's...

Post by Robertb »

Hi all.
I did post some of these photos in another section but was asked to make my own thread which i am doing here.. Here are my two old girls together.. My 1985 M635 which i detailed in a full rebuild thread on this site a few years ago and still goes beautifully and also my "new" old E9 replica Batmobile which i have recently finished and use in some club events etc and have a good time in..The E9 was originally a 1971 2800 CS which i completely stripped and removed all of the rust from and built it up to exactly copy (except for the EFI) the 1974 Schnitzer single cam CSL…

Now convinced I would like a ride in a e9 with offside controls…
Great post, Thanks.

The M635 still looks pretty good and you can see where its heritage comes from...

Cool looking cars, indeed =D>
By the way, what do you call these rubber moldings on the front wings? I like those and would like to get a pair of them.
I had some similar ones on my old and used purchased '76 Opel Manta back in my student days in Germany, but those are long gone. I never took them off when the car made its final journey to the junkyard.

You know, looking at that pic. reminds me of a song Robert.

It's a thin line .... between love and hate.

That is a gorgeous pair of vehicles you have there.

My M635 was covered in a lot of posts a few years ago but basically it is Vin number 38 so she is one of the early ones built in Feb 85. It was a rotisserie rebuild with every bit of rust removed and the engine was completely rebuilt with some nice higher compression forged pistons etc etc... It sits on coilovers as well and is fantastic to drive...
For those wanting to know about the surface treatment of the thermostat housing it is just painted gold which sort of copies the early M1 style engine colour scheme...
The rubber wind strips on the CSL were made by myself in a mould that i made.. They are very difficult to get so... made my own...

One glaring omission in my shed is an e9 coupe.

Modified as a replica racecar it looks orsome. Bet it goes like a rocket and sounds the part also.
