Hello from northern Ontario, Canada. I have recently purchased a 1987 M635 from an old friend who's health has been failing over the past few years. This would be my fourth straight 6 BMW and one I've always aspired to own.
Originally a US car, it's been well used (150,000 mi) but still looking very presentable. A proper polishing of the paint and re-dying the leather (lots of leather) will be all it really needs. Mechanically, however, there is plenty to do. Fortunately, Canadian winters are long and garages are heated.
I had it on the hoist at a friends shop and found a number of things. The usual brakes, exhaust, bushings, axles and differential mount. Minor rust at the rear wheels and a couple of oil leaks - one at the front of the engine (front seal?) and a fitting on the RHS of the block. All this should be possible at home, on jack stands.
I look forward to resolving a few other issues via the technical forums such as sticking throttle when hot and what wheels should I replace the TRX with.
