2700 Mile road trip complete
I picked up the 71k mile '85 Euro in Tulsa last week. During the drive it developed a sticky AFM which caused some very rich driving. Once fixed the 635csi pulls very hard and idles smooth. It had original cap and rotor so I changed those in Walnut Creek at a great guys house, Mile Ottati. It was Tulsa-OKC-Flagstaff-Phoenix-Los Angeles-Bay Area-Portland.

Re: 2700 Mile road trip complete
I have to apologize, I didn't get a lot of pics.
The PO stored it next to his plane, covered and stored during the winter.
Then my first stop in Portland was to deliver wheels to my son for his 190e16v I picked up in the Bay Area.
The guy that brought it into the country was an airline pilot. In the '90's there was no weight restriction on what they could ship. He brought the 635 over in the belly of a 747. The PO to me bought it from an estate.

Re: 2700 Mile road trip complete
these cars are made for chewing the miles up like that; I've never gone that distance in just a few days but several times I've done 400-500 miles in a day and didn't feel especially done in or anything.
Re the sticky AFM; I've had that... I fixed mine by careful use of wet and dry paper inside the unit so that the flap could move freely once more. The first time I didn't do it enough and it worked OK when cold but was sometimes still sticky when hot.
Nice car, nice story!
cheers
