Long Time Between Drinks

Post by Paul Humpage »

It's ages since I've done a gallery post. Really as I've had the car 10 years now all but a few weeks it's time I did a re-introduction as it was one polish away from being sold. That can wait for another day when the light is kinder. But a coating of wax today gave me the urge to go out and take a few snaps so here is my 1986 csi in Agate Green resplendent in modern TRX tyres as without doubt the car runs supremely on them.

A nice bit of symmetry I noticed on the way home.

Hmm. I've just noticed my signature photo, looks like I need a super polish to match the shine from years ago. That field is now built over and is an enormous warehouse.

Lovely Paul. Looks just like new. 323,232kms new.

And such an inviting & friendly looking background you've got there too. There's no getting past that fence is there. Did you take these on day-release or something?

That's my backyard. Got to keep the weirdos out and the sensible ones in. The power transformers are for my hifi.

Your car looks very nice in your sig, I'd forgotten all about it.

Hi Paul, I just came across your post in my "Agate Green" search. Your car looks stunning. It looks more like it has 32,323 km. Well done. Here are a few photos of mine.

Cheers,

Lovely :D Agate green is such a good colour. I never thought of it when I was looking for a car 10 years ago but as it drove around the corner and I saw it for the first time the colour pulled me in and I knew I would buy it.

I love the fact that the depth/shade of the green color changes depending on the amount of light shining on it.

I think it's here. You will have to wait for another run though by the look of things.

Has anyone done silver stripes on diamantschwarz? I'd love to see a picture please.

How difficult was it to apply?

Also, PO installed a clear bra #-o ... Wonder if that's compatible with stripes?

Thanks!

Does this help: BMW Black with silver stripes (old stripes for the very first euro M)?
Attaching is not to difficult if you work precise and got a wrapping blade. Just fix it with some masking tape in the desired postion. Pull off the transfer paper for ~30 cm and attach it with the blade. Remove the masking strips and peel of transfer paper inch by inch and attach it with the blade. Remove the protective film and give it a good pressure with the blade. Remove the remaining air bubbles with a realy thin needle. Carefully polish put the hairline scratches you made with the blade as you payed not enought attention. Seal it with wax after some time.
Attaching took me ~3h for both sides. Second person highly recommended...

Very, very nice. And kind of scary :)

Now I need to decide whether I want that other project now (remove clear bra, apply stripes...).
