More of the same, including "$ handler" Steve, taking care of business,
FROM his passenger seat
We'll deal with that next year
We sorta took over the back lot of the host hotel, as you can see
And since Bodega Bay was the scene where the famous Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds" was filmed, of course Paul had to clown it up with a bunch of fake ravens on his 6er

First stop was the old schoolhouse in the town of Bodega, which was in one of the movie scenes
We took over the street in front of the schoolhouse, 3 cars wide, 34 in all
I think the schoolhouse was built in 1871 or something like that

Plates, license plates, that is
No, that's not the first M6, don't get your panties in a bunch
The 87 CSI plate is from the late great Winfield Williams, now owned by gentleman Jim, back in the fold

And, last but certainly not least, a few shots of the infamous green shark, like I don't already have enough
That's all for now folks, until others add some in

Great pics! Great time! Thanks to all the organizers. I sent the link to Satch Carlson, the executive editor of "Roundel". Hopefully he'll post some in the next issue.

Thanks gents, yes, truly great collection of well preserved examples, since most of us live in a drier climate
And yes Nigel, I use an actual camera, go figure
Sad to say that I don't even own a smart phone
And, as I forgot to bring my camera to the Saturday wrap-up dinner, I had to get some pix from Paul
It is about the people too, you know, so here's a few shots of the 50+ in attendance

Oh, one more shot, clowning around in the hotel lobby, as you can see that the bird theme still lives on
Yep, that's me and the missus

Bobbo, from the clarity and depth of field in your photos I naturally assumed that you were
using a proper camera! ( calls of shame from smartphone users!)
I too use a camera to take pictures and a phone ( Nokia 3310 'brick' ) to make calls, I find it
works best for me - even if it means that it makes me a bit of a dinosaur! After all, I do prefer
driving a 31 year old car!! cheers, Nigel.

It's striking that so many of the group pics show no front license plates. How do you all get away with it? I'd love to not use a front plate but in NYC that'll get you a sure ticket if you park on a street. And could get the attention of a state trooper on the open road. Can someone enlighten me?

Well jonmont, I do have a theory on this
My guess is that the "men in blue" have more than enough "real" issues to deal with on the highways and byways here in CA, so they leave us alone
Now, that being said, I have actually run into this issue myself
I was passing an accident that was just being wrapped up by the resident CHP, and he pulled behind me at a traffic light. Upon making my turn, on came the lights
At the time, I was using one of those license plate covers that skews the numbers when viewed from the sides, which would prevent my plate from being photographed, not that I"m regularly running red lights and whatnot in my 6er
But that's what he pulled me over for
So he walks around the front of the car, and inquired as to the location of my front plate, to which I relied, "uh, it's in the trunk"
Well, he wasn't too happy about that either, and wrote my up for not one, but 2 tickets
So while I do have first hand experience with getting ticketed for this offense, for the most part, I do believe that it's overlooked for other, more serious offenses

California vehicle code does require a front license plate. When I bought my M6 about 12 years ago, it had no front plate. I purchased the correct BMW part and mounted a front plate. I agree the cars look much nicer without a front plate.
My reasoning is that I don't want to give the police any excuses to draw attention. If I do speak with a law enforcement officer, I want it to be my idea.
