Denver Drive 9/29

Post by tschultz »

I propose a drive at the end of the month- September 29th.

I was thinking a route up Golden Gate canyon, and then to merge onto 119 and come back through Clear Creek Canyon, or through Boulder.

What do you guys think, and who would be in to join me?

Plan to meet Saturday at 9:00am so that we can leave by ~9:30 or so (depending how much everybody wants to chat!).

I propose one of two similar routes that go up to Boulder. From Nederland, we can do this either down Boulder Canyon, or Sugarloaf road (never been before).

Since we enjoyed coming down golden gate canyon rd a couple of months back, let's take that UP to the Peak to Peak Highway around through Rollinsville and Nederland.

http://goo.gl/maps/AYPcj

If we take this route through Rollinsville, I suggest we stop here (I have never been) and eat lunch as a group. I found a nice looking place along the route, Called the Stage Stop 1868 open from 7:30-1 for Brunch. It looks tasty!

We could also do a similar route (Rainer's from 2010 http://www.bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12148) and head up Clear Creek Canyon, which is always fun. Either route should be fun.

Let me know what everybody thinks, and I will start spreading the word.

I was planning to invite anybody BMW, it just so happens most of the people I know with the BMW's have the E24/E28 etc.

I say anybody who wants to join (preferably BMW, but other cars welcome)!

Brian Fons is no longer MIA either. He cannot make it since his 8 has electrical problems. (Should have stuck to the 6er, just saying)

Had a great time on the drive today - beautiful weather, great scenery, and a great group of cars & drivers. I did a poor job as a photojournalist, however, as the only shots I got were in the meeting parking lot in Morrison.

Image

We had four E24 6'ers, one E28 5'er, and one special guest for our drive through Gate Gate Canyon.

Image

This very clean & original E30 318is was passing through town and pulled in to chat with us for a while.

Image

How many of us have ever seen a Bitter 3.9? This rare example (only about 200 ever made it to the U.S.) joined us for the drive

Had a great time everybody! Turned out to be a great day for the event also.

One of these drives I will have to be the passenger or something and get some photos of everybody!
