No./Ca. folks- How bout a Napa drive day on the 8th of June?
Hey people. The few of us that got together today got to talking about a larger drive event. I sincerely hope that we will have a Sharkfest in September of this year, but that is just too doggone long to wait for a get together.
So then, I propose a drive day on the second weekend in June (Sat. June 8th). I have mapped out a route here in Napa County that would take us from the College on the far edge of town, up around my favorite roads in the area and stop off at Calistoga for lunch. The proposed route is linked below.

The drive time would be about 1.5 hours, so if we got started at 10:00, that would land us in Calistoga right around lunch time. I thought it might be a fun summer type of thing to hit a barbecue place called Buster's.

Buster moved to Calistoga from Oakland a while back, where he learned to make some damned tasty (and spicy if you like it) barbecue. There are lots of other options as well, but he has enough parking for around 15 or so cars on his lot and plenty of additional parking nearby. If we wanted to hit a more formal dining location, Calistoga certainly has plenty of those.
If we want to drive a little longer before lunch, we could also do a circle through Calistoga and head back up Highway 29 to St. Helena for a bite at what used to be a historical type place called Taylor's Refresher. It has since changed names and menu, but folks say it is still serving tasty burgers and other fare. It has an outdoor seating area and really has a "California summer day out" vibe to it as well.
After lunch, we could break and head home, or we could run the route in reverse for the diehard MUST DRIVE ALL DAY types.
I'm thinking I could cross pollinate this to the Bimmerforums 6er area and invite those folks too.
So here are the questions. Are we up for a June 8th drive? Are we down to chow down on some barbecue in Calistoga?
Holla back, yo!

We usually do fine round here without detectors. Sometimes they can help on the main highway or Silverado Trail, but I haven't felt the need to add one (knock on wood).
I ran the back side from Fairfield to Napa once with a crowd from Bimmerforums (a few years ago) and we had three groups. The slow group, the get a ticket group and the get arrested group. I was in the middle of the lead group. While it was entertaining, I have not engaged in such "tom foolery" since. Just not worth it.
I'm too old to ask my wife to come bail me and my buddies out ..... anymore.

It should be a very fun and sunny day. My cousin's husband will be coming with me.
For those of you who like to be VERY prepared, I have a pair of GMRS radios. They are set to channel 4 and CTCSS privacy code 11. I can change them to regular channel 4, if you bring radios that don't have CTCSS.
See everyone on Saturday!!!

I will not be able to make this as my boy's baseball team is having a season end party (and I am one of the coaches).
I will miss meeting you guys.
Have fun.

Awesome. See you at the college at 10:00. Address there is 2277 Napa-Vallejo Highway. I will be at the South end of the parking lot. If you take a left at Streblow, take the first right (James Diemer drive). Follow it around to the right and after the big building (the Library) I will park right at the first entrance. If you pass the bus stop, you just blew by me.
