Building E24 635 Race Car

Post by Ozibimmer »

Hi Guys
Well as from the 1st of August I have started on building my road going race replica.
I was planning on doing this a few months ago but due to opening my new BMW wrecking yard I had to put things on hold.
I have a great car to start with using one of my 635csi.
Its a High compression UK import.
White in colour with no sunroof, late 1982 version so its the E28 based series 2.
Only 100,00km with full service history.
Auto in at moment but going to install a Getrag 265 Dogleg.
Not to much rust.
Car has Bilstiens Shocks with Alpina springs.
Motor is very very strong.
Okay time to start.
This week the interior is coming out so lots of extra parts to sell out of my wrecking yard.
Also going to remove side strips (Door Guards) and fill holes.
This car is going to remain road registered so I can use it as a Promo car for my business and then I am able to drive to all the BMW drive track days we have here in Oz =D> .

Hi Greg
That's what I am thinking. The paints really good on the car but keeping it white and wrap it may be the best solution to get a great result.

It will look cool for sure.
What are u doing with the engine?
Std?
Hope not ....
I've got a good contact for a great adaptor to bolt on s38 throttle bodies.
U would need to convert to megasquirt or other management but they certainly help the m30 breathe othetwise the power peaks around 5400 even with compression and cams I prob need a bigger cam and at least the high comp engine to make it work thou.

U may want to keep the door cards if u plan on building the car for improved production series. It's always a good idea to build a race car that can compete in a particular class which would make it a better investment. Even if you only plan on doing club sprints.

Love it.

Let me know if you want the final build for my M30B34 race engine as it now has a new high compression head. 246kw and 600nm at the moment. It simply flies. Wish I could drive it as fast as it actually goes.

Hey Addam... those side mouldings & chrome strips you took off yours, are they for sale coz I need a good set.

PM me please.

Also let me know if you have the 2 rear 1/4 mouldings for the early cars as well.

Cheers...

PS - Josh... that is one sweet looking engine.
