81 635CSi Euro by Dietel Enterprises, 745i Turbo 5spd
Grey market imported and modded by Dietel Enterprises in early 80s with 745i engine and Alpina suspension. I am missing documentation prior to 2000 and would appreciate any info available, especially from previous owners. It was originally blue but spent much of its time in California repainted red. It was again repainted in 2004, now black, and was brought to Colorado in 2011. Federalization plate lists Dietel Enterprises and a manufacturing date of Dec 81, which I suspect is not per BMW as it would put it in the 82 model year.

Yes those are Rondels from about 10 yrs ago. I'm traveling right now so don't have access to the invoice record but they are 17X8.5 all around and I believe a 20mm backspace. No rubbing issues at all. When I get home I'll check that spec. Frankly I'd really like to have a set of vintage Alpina 16x7/16x8 which would be appropriate to the car, given the Alpina suspension and that Dietel was an Alpina parts and installation dealer.
@Big_T, I'll grab some underhood shots in a few days and add them. Nothing spectacular, it's all factory BMW although 745i.

Looks great. i thought I saw this for sale on craigslist recently by a dealer.
Sure seems like it would be a blast!

Indeed, it languished on CL a long time, which I really don't understand. I looked at it initially and after a number of months decided to follow through. I was concerned something was wrong with it so checked it out very carefully and went into it as a gamble. Now as I dig into it and learn more about it I'm convinced I found a gem. The biggest challenge so far is the condition of the original leather under those fitted sheepskins. Restoring the original Recaros is going to cost me.
Do you have any photos of the interior/ engine by chance?
Also, I hope you have heard of Drive 4 Corners by now

lol I am sure the words vintage, turbo and BMW were too much in the same sentence and freaked many prospective buyers out. Why do so many have the perception these cars are expensive to maintain?Jolt wrote:Indeed, it languished on CL a long time, which I really don't understand. Personally I am excited to find out how many there are.
