So I've never owned an m, I've had two 635s one 84, turned out to be to far gone to repair, then I have an 89 motorsport, needs a bit of tlc which I just haven't gotten around to, so I bought this as the pinnicle for me. The first ten years of history is missing but very comprehensive from 96, it was previously imported to Ireland and I got the seller to register in Ireland before I purchased, the plan is make it as mint as I can get it and keep it forever lol. I'm still in the nipping out to the garage to just look at it phase at the moment! Sure I'll send on a few pics

Wow! That does look clean. Unusual to see side skirts with no rear apron: I like it!

Cheers,

looks good there; very little in the way of extraneous accessories to go wrong and weigh so much it slows you down, either....

BTW you may be missing a bit; I think there should be

1) a bonnet stop rubber on the RHS (in the bracket near the coil) and
2) there is a part (with an unknown part number) that goes behind the LH cabin air intake grille in the bonnet;this helps to stop water from pouring onto the wiring harness grommet on the LHS of the scuttle, and leaking into the car. Not every car has it, but all would benefit from it.

cheers

I have just stumbled on some recently posted Instagram photos, with comments appearing to suggest that a rust free M635CSi has in the last few days arrived in the UK having been shipped from Brunei. This black on black RHD chrome bumper car is reputed to have just 4500 miles........

Welcome to the forum, the car sounds like a nice colour/interior combo.

Welcome mirdif64, and compliments to you for demonstrating such exquisite taste when it comes to choosing your cars.

Is the car new to you? You may know already, but I do believe it was originally registered with the numberplate "BMW635"

Not really new to me. Had it since '94.
It was originally registered to a BMW dealer (Woodmans in Blackpool, if I remember correctly), then it was owned by a solicitor in Preston for 6 years before I got it from a dealer in Middlesex. Traded a 3 series Alpina Touring for it.
It actually had the BMW 635 plate on it when I got the car. Used it for a couple of weeks until it was issued with an age related plate and that number went back to the dealer. He wanted 5 grand for it and I couldn't justify it at the time (was about a third of what the car cost then)
Regards,

Steve.

Which Alpina Touring? They're all pretty rare in the UK.

Sharkfan,
Can't really remember too much about it. Didn't have it long. Think it was a C2 2.5 (wasn't the full blown 2.7) Don't even have any pictures of it. It was '91 (H plate) H101 BSP
It sounded absolutely fantastic, that I do remember.
Looked like this, same colour.

I have 0760472
Did anyone manage to find out a definitive number of these 20 RHD Motorsport Editions left in existence?
Mine has around 120k miles and still in remarkable condition with "all" original factory parts.
The car has a flip radio and I'm unsure if this is original.

I've only got 5 highlines on the database and the earliest is #430. So there's at least 95 highlines. The latest non highline I have so far is #420 so there's no more than 104 highlines. The rumour is 101 or 2 highlines and hopefully I'll eventually find out.
This would be a lot easier if I could get mobile tradition to give a hoot.
Hello gwm635 and bayerische,

I bought a 1989 635csi highline in April RHD in nagaro silver (pic attached). I found a post you put up back in 2007 bayerische which suggested this could be one of 23 cars that were made right at the end of the run. You suggested on the post that this was referred to as an M635csi. Is that right? I've also seen info which refers to it as a L6. It does have a complete leather interior, including the dash and roof. I've also seen info which suggests that the chip for these last 23 was the North American spec. Do you know if that's right? Lovely car, has a few rust spots where you'd expect but otherwise in great nick. Registration is F246PAN and last 8 digits of the VIN are 08188359. Do you already have this one gwm635? Any help/advice welcome. Still very much a newbie but thoroughly enjoying owning this great looking sharknose. Cheers.

You've certainly resurrected an old thread here! "gwm635" has not been on here for a very long time.

Sorry to inform you but your car is NOT an M635. It is a Highline Motorsport 635 which judging by the chassis # is an '88 built car which sat in the dealers for a while before it was registered. The M635 chassis#s end in 0760001-0760524.

The L6 was close to the American version of our Highline and was never sold in the UK.

Have a scroll back through this post and you will find some pics of the M88 engine which is rather different to yours.

Welcome Mumbaipete,

Ron has said everything you need to know about your car. Your car is not an M635 but it's still a lovely 635 Motorsport edition.

Best of luck with it.
