Drove to the Members Meeting at Goodwood, made just that little more special on the way down by hooking up with a gorgeous DB4 that wasn't hanging around

Jim takes the lead at around the 9 min mark, its impressive to see him taking car after car after car to make it to the front, but Dick Johnson in the Mustang is absolutely pushing him for the remainder of the race.

Today, I got her wet
No choice as had it booked for an MOT, went through no advisories so all good.
Dried it off before putting back in the garage but tomorrow I'll get her out again and clean the arches and take her for a proper run.. sun should be out in the morning.
Miserable windy and wet day today.

Mine is taking another trip back into the exhaust shop to have new downpipes installed. Bought a set from a decently reputable shop in Canada. Overall shape looks great, construction and weld quality leaves a bit to be desired, but pipe ID is 2" in the straight parts of the pipe, so larger than stock which is nice. Add into that the fact that I'll actually have a high flow catalytic on it this time, and the exhaust volume should drop to the perfect level. I'm stoked. NO MORE EXHAUST LEAKS once this is done.

I replaced my brake light switch, as I have to do every 5 years or so
After replacing it, I noticed that the "D" indicator bulb had blown in the dashboard.
So then I dropped the kick panel again, dropped the steering column and partially pulled the dash pod. Using my tiny little hands I pulled the transmission selection indicator bulb circuit board out, unsoldered the broken bulb and soldered a new one in. Re-assembled and all working. I could not live without all my bulbs functioning.

Had the air-con on all five cars checked by AutoAir from Woking. They came to my house to save me dragging cars too and fro, and topped up the 635CSi and the E34 Alpina Touring; the others were checked and found to be all ok.
He also gave me a really competitive quote for replacing the condensor on the E34 so that'll probably be done at the end of summer.
I used the M635 for the first time in a long time at the weekend; the clock was still on British Summer Time so I left it a day and hey presto, it was right again

Replaced lower control arms and had a new exhaust flex joint welded in. No more high speed shimmy and annoying exhaust leak! Drives like a dream. Next up, alignment and passenger window weatherstrip replacement.

I didn't do much to my E24 but I hope I helped Ron out with his E23 and sorting out his small selection of E24 bits. I spent the weekend in sunny Wales and in between the Chilli, Wine, car banter, drawing on Ron's amazing depth of E24 knowledge and the excellent company I hope I managed to make myself useful.
There were actually a couple of Sevens on the drive as I took my B12 over to meet his E23 735i but shamefully neither of us whipped out a camera. Anyway I returned home today and cleaned up the E38... thoroughly enough I hope Ron
Edit: There were actually three sevens for a while as johnn635 and his good Lady popped by in his E38 740i to pick Ron's brains too. Nice to meet you John.

Just tried the leak area again and (touch wood) it is DRY so many, many thanks for all the struggling you did!

Had a good laugh when I discovered that PO had computer fans installed instead of the blower motor . Not sure what amazed me more - that someone would do something like this, or that it actually worked!
So after a quick stop over at scrappers I replaced the blower fan with OEM spec.
Also changed the door weather seal on the passenger side. Thought it would be an easy 10 min job. Wow was I wrong. Took me about 40 minutes to figure out the technique how to insert new weather stripping into the top railing.

Those fans are not necessarily a bad idea, but I'd bet they're not weatherproof.

Well, not today, but last Saturday. Fired up the car after sitting a couple weeks, went to the parts store to pick up brake parts for the service van. Headed for the shop next to do end of the month business after a stop to pick up a cup of convenience store coffee. Only a click on hitting the starter. Crap. Stranded for the second time in nearly 2 decades. Called a friend for a jump and continued on. At least the coffee was hot.
At the shop connected the charger, then on to the office to pay bills.
Tested the battery that afternoon and it was fine. Started it up and the alternator did not charge. Meter said no ignition to the regulator, so bad battery indicator lamp. Pull it out and check, nope, good. Hmmm, not the best of times for dash/harness troubleshooting. Clip alligator clips on the regulator terminal and battery and head for the house. Note to self, remember to remove the jumper after parking the car.
Charge battery Sunday after removing jumper. Unfortunately I need to deal with larger issues so the repair waits. Cover car and add charging system to the to do list. Double check that jumper is not connected.

Advisories on a control arm ball joint, a split tie-rod rubber cover and the usual chassis preservation system so very happy indeed.
Edit number 2; Just a word of warning to UK owners, brake back-plates are now part of the MoT. Condition and security are the issues, no holes and no wobbling/looseness. So get the wire brush and hammerite out.

My 1982 635CSiA passed its MoT today... I was a little surprised as I have a lengthy list of things to do in and around the car but they are all non-test items. I had held back doing a few things but shall now press ahead and try and get the very old girl in much better shape to face another winter.
Sort out a few instrument cluster issues.
Replace one corroding headlight unit.
Replace window outer seals.
Service of fluids and filters.
Replace exhaust, perhaps with stainless.
Replace the dead OBC with an analogue clock.

Took my boy and his mates to the Year 11 prom in a bit of a BMW convoy with the E30 cabrio and a spanking new 7er (with a Bentley tagging along).
I think he finally started to see what the fuss was about if I'm understanding "this is the sickest car here" correctly. It was certainly the noisiest!

Great advice especially on the rear items as , on the series one ,it requires splitting the hub /bearing unit to replace . I had to renew all four on mine as 30% of each were gone ......

Or, as a MoT tester suggested, just cut them off completely as 'they can't fail them if they're not fitted' a bit like spare wheels.

took the plastic arches of the rear today to give a clean and touch up any loose paint that could cause rust in the future, can't believe just how solid they are for a UK car!

today I decided to have a go at restoring my drivers seat as it was a little tired and cracked in places but good overall condition.. Lotus silver and it came out pretty good for a 1st attempt, now it shows the passenger seat up so have to do that one now!
