Any one come up with a creative way to cover front plate area that looks pretty good?
Show what you did
Impossible to find the manufactured old one that fills that void .

A few years ago, a guy named "Unicorn" was on bimmerforums and myE28, and he was selling front bumper fillers for various models. Not sure if he was ever on this site. You might try sending him a PM thru one of those sites. IIRC, they were $33 each.

I have the one that I took off my '88 M6. Since CA requires a front plate, my reasoning was that I did not want any encounters with the police unless is was my idea. I can either send it to you, or hand it over at the PSF in September. A photo of it is on the 2009 BMW Calendar on the December page.

Yes, "Unicorn" ran an ad in the November 2014 Roundel for bumper fillers (at $33 each). I bought and installed one (photo). I'm not sure if he has any left, but here is the contact information if anyone is interested:
