adjusting e24 euro headlights

Post by wolfbmw »

i was cleaning the back of the passenger side headlight assembly, when i noticed that the plastic knobs were broken. the white plastic had turned deep yellow and was brittle.

replacements are on the way.

now from the back of the passenger side low beam headlight assembly, there is a knob on the top left and one on the bottom right.

which one is used for the up/down movement of the light (making the beam higher or lower)

thanks again for the help

I had done a search but didn't come up with an answer.
I just want to know on the outer low beam lights which plastic knob does the vertical movement (up/down) and which the lateral movement (left/right).

Try it and see? It shouldn't take much of a move to tell which is which. You can always go back if you pick the wrong one to begin with.

Spray them with penetrating oil first. As directed, it shouldn’t need a degree in rocket science to work out which way to turn them!

ok I see. i'll do it as you say.
on the 'm' it can't be done with the engine running to save the battery. the airbox/afm has to be remove together with the windshield washer bottle.

Bottom left is for up/down. Top right is for in/out.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!
