Sad News, Dean Cains

Post by rhanley 635csi89 »

Hi members,

I received a email from Dean's wife advising me of Dean's passing early this year. As many of us know Dean was a active member of BMW and Alfa Romeo forums.
A good person, contributor and friend.
Dean will be dearly missed by all.

Sorry to hear this, sad news indeed

Dean had been fixing a E24 homelink rearview mirror I bought from him through medical difficulties and stays in the hospital late in 2017. He worked on the project when he was at home and was prompt about communication even though he had a serious situation going on. I really enjoyed following his project thread as his attention to detail was very good. Thanks for the update.

OMG, sad news indeed

Dean was a HUGE contributor to the forum, a real wealth of knowledge that he no problem parting with =D>

I too recall that he had various stints back and forth with the hospital, but never knew why, apparently more serious than at least I would have thought :(

Condolences got out to his family and friends, again very sorry to hear :-$

As a board moderator, I am going to move this thread to the saloon, a more appropriate place to leave our prayers and well wishes [-o<

Just awful news. I was going to visit him later this month as I knew he was in the hospital. My sincere condolences to his family.

One of our last PMs he mentioned his list of to-do's so he clearly had a positive outlook in spite of his medical difficulties.

Here's an obituary: https://newtownbee.com/dean-cains/

Such a sad news.
While I never meat Dean personally, we exchanged quite a lot on bimmerforums and here. He was very very knowledgeable and warm person. He will be missed by e24 community.

My deepest condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear this. I never met him, but I do know he was a major contributor to this and other forums over the years. Good people like him who selflessly share a passion for cars is what breathes life into these forums. My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

So sorry to hear about Dean. I had a number of phone conversations with him over the last few years. We tried on several occasions to get together and meet. We even tried to set up a local Florida drive. Unfortunately his medical condition never allowed us to actually get together.

He was very generous with his knowledge of E 24's and his passion for these cars certainly came through with every conversation.

My condolences to his family. When some one passes my 91 year old fathers expression is "God must have needed another angel". Rest in Peace Dean.

Terrible news. I've never met Dean but corresponded several times through BC. Great contributor to the group and will be missed by the BC community as well as others. Godspeed Dean.

Sincere thanks for providing the sombering news Roger. My first loss of a very close family member occurred recently and I can only say that I never knew the sorrow one experiences during the loss of someone very close. Please convey my condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear this news of Deans passing. I was unaware of his illness. In October Dean helped me with finding an upper interior valance for my car and after he knew I also needed sun visors sent me his old ones no charge - they were in great condition, now in my car and I was very happy to have them.
My condolences to Deans family.

Wow i got say I'm really shocked to hear about this. I have been in contact with Dean for a long time. I knew he had medical issues but it sounded like he had mostly beat them and was getting stronger. I last emailed him just a few weeks before he past. Very sad news.

WOW!! I just read about Dean. As was mentioned, he was very free with his extensive knowledge. I learned how to wash the newer style headlights for Buster from him. I have a copy in my folder. I see he will be missed by all here, including me! God Bless & God Speed.

It still saddens me when I'm going over some thread where Dean had contributed his vast knowledge.
